"To Kill a Mockingbird" is written by an American writer Harper Lee. This book is, indubitably, a fascinating one. The story covers a span of three years. As we all know, the criterion to judge a book is that the book must have its merits. "To Kill a Mockingbird" is a nonfiction novel. Its description is rather visual with fluidity and subtlety. The author depicts scenes vividly and realistically. This is certainly a thought-provoking book.
In real life, to kill a mockingbird is certainly forbidden. The title consists the meaning of one shouldn't be cruel or persecute to those who haven't done anything wrong. A mockingbird is a harmless bird that makes the world more pleasant. It does no harm to anyone but spending its days singing songs for the enjoyment of others. Atticus once says," Mockingbirds sing their hearts out just for us to hear them and to kill one would be the worst thing a person could ever do." The "mockingbird" refers to the status of Tom Robinson. He is a real nice person. However, People judge him by his skin color. The world around him pressurizes him and he chooses to sheer his pain eventually, by ending his life. The title reflects to what Atticus tells the children about Tom Robinson's case and his unnecessarily horrible fate.
As the story goes along, the young narrator, Jean Louise Finch (nickname Scout) learns about the goodness of people as well as the dark side of humanity. She is the central character of this book. The readers can see an increasing maturity in how she understands the world. There must be some substantial lost or gain in the transition to her adulthood. She is a questioner and observer. She is always full of curiosity and with growing perception. I personally admire the braveness she has from suffering various misadventures. Scout is a girl who dares to love and to resent.
Atticus Finch is a lawyer. He instills in his children with his strong sense of morality and justice.He isn't obliged to take Tom Robinson's case. Atticus is supposed to defeat for the white guy who libels Tom Robinson. He nevertheless chooses to follow his heart and to sustain justice. Although Atticus is the dauntless individual who stands up for his personal belief. The community doesn't agree with him. They thought he is crazy and a nigger lover. The community's morals are, after all, the sum of what its individuals believe. It is woe how the colored people are considered as derogatory by certain people. I was shocked by the blatant racism of the people in the small town had shown.
Jem Finch, Scout's brother. He is older than Scout by four years. Scout believes just about anything he says. He is her idol. He has also gotten more mature by the time of the trial was processing. People sometime lose things when they start knowing things about the reality of life. Some things like fairness, compassion, and a critical way of looking at the world. Those are definitely well-worth to keep. Scout and Jem luckily didn't lose them.
Overall, this book is real depth. The remarks often involve profound implications that made me ponder. I felt real sympathy for Tom Robinson. What could have he done? Just Like a mockingbird being killed. Atticus is the one who always believe that there must be some way to free Robinson. Robinson didn't have any patient to live under that circumstance anyway. To follow one's faith permanently is absolutely crucial.

This is certainly a thought-provoking book.---This is not a good way to end the first paragraph of an essay. At the end of the first paragraph of an essay, give a sentence that will capture the main message of the essay.
