Hi,

okay so im writing a 300- 400 personal response to a novel and i have to at least refer to three subtopics. SO i wrote it but i need help trying to rephrase my sentences and instead use miniscule phrases. Sometimes i feel that its repetitive especially my conclusion and my body so if you could help me avoid repetition and try rephrasing my sentence that would be great. please please be harsh as possible your effort is appreciated.

I enjoyed reading The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time because the author, Mark Haddon, used such an engaging writing style. The use of the first person for the narrator allowed the readers to connect with the main character at a deep level and to understand his disease of Asperger's Syndrome. This point of view encourages the reader to empathize with the character and to experience his overwhelming mix of emotions. In addition, the use of graphics and illustrations was an interesting way of portraying how Christopher thinks. Lastly, the book being written in first person had both advantages and disadvantages.

The book was engaging being written from the point of view of an autistic teenager because it allowed the reader to get a better picture of how Christopher sees things in the world. This point of view opens our eyes to the many challenges that an autistic teenager like Christopher faces in daily life. For example on page 3, Christopher says he cannot say what the ideograms like "Surprised" or "Confused" mean. This is an example of his inability to interpret emotions. The book being written in first person allows the reader to understand the protagonist better and to empathize on deeper level. The first person narration makes the text more realistic and it allows you to understand the attitudes, the behaviours, and the personality of an autistic teen. For example on page on page 46 Christopher lists his behavioural problems like screaming when he is angry or confused or not talking to people for a long time. The use of illustrations and graphics was very effective. Rarely do you find do you find illustrations and graphics in a novel that illustrate what a person sees and thinks. For example on page 35 he draws a blueprint of Randolph Street of the house's he will visit for his investigation and he labels certain things like "Mrs. Shears house" because he likes things in order it makes him feel more secure or safe especially since he doesn't like talking to new people and he states on page 35 " So talking to other people was brave..so I had no choice." Finally, I believe the book had both advantages and disadvantages of being written in first person. The advantage is that the text sounds realistic and it is easier to understand and sympathize with the protagonist in the novel who suffers from Asperger's Disease. The disadvantage is that you don't know the point of view of other characters and that could be a problem because Christopher can't interpret emotions so he probably gives an inaccurate interpretation of the point of view of the other characters in the novel.

In conclusion, the book has many interesting aspects that allow you to understand the main character Christopher whether it may be the graphics or being written in the first person narration by an autistic person. Even though this book is written well in first person but it has advantages and disadvantages. I look forward to reading the next part section of the novel.
