I'm applying for Chevening, and I have been asked to provide two references. My current employer will be my first reference. As for the second, I'm thinking of providing the details of my former employer from when I was working part-time while studying for my Bachelor's degree. I've been out of school for over 2 years and I'm not in contact with my professors (nor was I very close to them), however I had a good relationship with my former employer. Do you think this is a good idea?
Now I am wondering how you will justify your networking skill. Two years isn't far. It is advisable to get an academic referee. Two years is quite Close to say you don't have an academic reference. However, I have seen people with two professional referees win the scholarship. So you can use your previous employer.
