Well, start by listing all of the important differences between the two places, along with another list of key similarities. Then, write up the items on your lists into complete sentences, and try to connect them in some way that seems logical to you. That will give you a rough draft that you can post here for more specific feedback.

Another thing you could do is begin with an interesting story about Savannah and show how different that same circumstance could have been in Roanoke.

Yes, and when you have made that list Sean mentioned, draw a conclusion! or... consider the implications! or...share with the reader an insight about the two places! or... what truth about life and living environments does this list of similarities and differences between these two places reveal?

Yes, you have to have a larger point that your details demonstrate. I forgot to mention that, but it is sort of vital. You could do this merely by concluding that one place is superior to the other in some respect, or you could try for something deeper.

Savannah, Ga. vs Roanoke, Al - proof read comparison & contrast paragraph

I hope you can proof read my comparison & contrast paragraph to let me know what I need to do
Thank you Angie

How different Savannah, Ga. is from Roanoke, Al.

I was born and raised in Savannah, Ga., but presently live in Roanoke, Al. Which are both different in several ways. First, Savannah is a larger city. It is located along the US Intracoastal Waterways. Savannah is surrounded by many historical buildings and houses that attract millions of visitors. It has a population of around 130,331 people, and the majority of those people are not as friendly and willing to help anyone. Due to its proximity to the coast, Savannah experiences milder winters and warm and humid summers. It sits several feet below Sea level and is prone to flooding. Roanoke, on the other hand, is a smaller town and is located along the foot hills of the Appalachian Mountains. Unlike Savannah, Roanoke is surrounded by acres of farmland. This farmland is used to raise cattle and crops. It has a population of only 6,661 people which are willing enough to go out of the way to help their neighbor. The weather in Roanoke is not as hot and humid in the summer like Savannah, but is much colder in the winter. Roanoke sits about 880 feet above Sea level and is not prone to flooding like Savannah. As you can see Savannah and Roanoke are as different as night and day. Even though each has its differences they both are a beautiful place to live.

Hi! You wrote this very well! Now there are two things to do. First, give some similarities, because compare and contrast means to give both similarities and differences. I see that you said they are both beautiful at the very end, but give something more than that.

After that, can you add one or two reflective sentences at the end, sentences that are very thoughtful and give an insightful idea about why these places are different, or what it all means.

Good luck!!

Based on the details you give at the moment, your implicit thesis is that Roanoke is a better place to live than Savannah. Perhaps you should make that thesis explicit. Then your details will serve a larger purpose, which will lend them interest.
