We are required to deliver a speech in which my topic is "The Greatest Love Story of All". I'm pretty hesitant on what I shall write about. Will it be okay if it would be about "Mother's Love" or is it better to talk about a love story from a book/movie? Please help me. Thank you :)
Personally, i do suppose that you need to specify what you are going to write about as your theme's speech, requiring the need of the fact that it is The Greatest Love story of All. So if you choose it as Mother's Love, i think that it is not appropriate. You should write about a love story from a book/movie, not in real life. Thus, you need to have watched it before being prepared for your speech. Then you can list and analyse reasons in your speech for your ideas easily. It is based on yours
Hi Jemaima, first of all, WELCOME to the Essay Forum Family, I hope that you find this website credible as well as useful to your writing projects. Here on EF, we strive to provide you with the best and most accurate criticism and feedback that will hopefully help you in your essay and articles to come.
Now, when it comes to writing, specially when you have the liberty to choose what to write, I firmly suggest that you write what you are most comfortable with and in this case, I believe it is better for you to write about your mother.
Writing about a person whom you love the most, is what will make your essay interesting and even more so realistic, of course, not only because you are writing about your mother but because there is a connection between you and the subject. I believe you will be able to come up with a very good writing piece in the greatest love story you've ever heard and experienced. I hope to review your essay soon and should you need further assistance, do let us know and we will be here for you.
Here's my two cents: it depends on the context of the assignment. Are you expected to quote sources? Does your teacher accept out of the box or unique approaches? If you're not sure, better than asking us here would be to ask your teacher what's appropriate. Only you and the teacher know best the context of the assignment.
I can see a mother's love being a love story. The story is the acts of love, the sacrifices they've made, and the experiences you have shared. As Ivy says, a personal story will be much easier for you to write about because you know it intimately. It's something you are obviously passionate about and it's definitely personal, which is what makes a speech interesting. There is a song called "the greatest story ever told," and it's a love song, and it's beautiful.
However, if you do have to choose an actual love story, I encourage you to still try and make a personal connection. Maybe it's a song, or a movie, or a book you read that really inspired you or moved you. Maybe it's a movie you watched with your mom. A movie/ book/etc... that you found really moving is going to make a better speech because of your passion for the story.
I think that you should write about how you believe that the greatest love story of all is whatever you want it to be. The beautiful thing about love is that it's unique to every single person. You can love anything and anyone and no one has the right to say you're wrong. That to me if the greatest love story of all. I think that you should spend a lot of time contemplating what you love the most and then just write about it. Express how much you love it, and no matter what it is, it will be the greatest love story of all.
