Hello everybody,
First, I'd like to make sure my thread subject is okay; not sure if I was specific enough.
Second, and more to the point, I've always been a very logical, technical thinker. Through my high-school career, I have taught myself countless shortcuts in math, found connections in science, and enjoyed every moment of it. Sadly, once I got to high school, I realized that my English work was insufficient to get the grades I need, and that has been dragging down my GPA and makes me worry about the AP Exam coming up in a few months. For those unfamiliar with, or far removed from by the passage of time, the AP Language/Composition exam consists of two parts. The multiple choice which is a simple knowledge based test, and three essays of different types. The three types are the rhetorical analysis, synthesis, and the argumentative. If i need to explain any of those three more, let me know.
My issues are actually rather hard to pinpoint, but if my teacher is correct, and I believe she is, I have trouble staying on topic and don't back up quotes and sources as well as I need to. Now, those two I can handle by increasing time I devote towards planning, but my scores show there's more to be desired than those two solutions; I usually make a 5 out of 9 on most essays. I'll attach an essay of mine as an attached file, but I don't believe I'm allowed to post its prompt.
**Note to moderators, if I shouldn't have the essay up at all if I'm not allowed put up the prompt, please take it down and message me so I can either find or write a suitable replacement**
Any and all advice is welcome, even if it isn't specifically about how a science student can write well.
