hi, I'm in the 9th grade and I have to write an essay on non-European immigration to Australia during the gold rush and I'm having trouble starting it. the essay has to talk about the challenges they faced and how they colonised Australia. it'll be really helpful if anyone has any ideas
Blue, when I typed in challenges faced by non-European immigration to Australia during the gold rush, I was given a series of historical websites that led to the answer to the question. I found out that tent cities became commonplace during the time. I took the liberty of noting some links for you to use:
Those 3 links should be enough to get your research on the topic started. It looks like a very interesting topic to be researching and writing about. These three links discuss the working and living conditions of the immigrants. The last one, discusses how the other immigrants, such as the Chinese, came to Australia during the gold rush even though they did not have money to pay for their travel and accommodations.
thank you for the websites ill takes a look.
this is what I have written so far. if you guys don't mind can you please give me feedback.
following the success of the American gold rush, the gold rush in Australia attracted many immigrants from all over the globe. the Chinese prospectors were perhaps the controversial and most interesting nationality to hit the goldfields. melbourne has not always been a good place for Chinese immigrants. there were many limitation targeting non - "white European" races. Australias national "desire" to become white and to keep other minorities out, this general opinion was called the "white Australian movement".
