Why MBA and why from Wharton (a leader in global business): Software Engineer

Hello:

I am writing essays for Wharton and the essay is about what my goals are and how an MBA can help. This is the question:

As a leader in global business, Wharton is committed to sustaining "a truly global presence through its engagement in the world". What goals are you committed to and why? How do you envision the Wharton MBA contributing to the attainment of those goals?

My profile is I am a Software Engineer with a Masters in Information Technology and 3 years professional experience. Post MBA, I am planning to start up a consultancy on my own or work in a Managerial role in Technology Consulting -- so my main focus in on Strategy Management.

I am having trouble with the organisation of this essay. Do I start with outlining my goals and then explain how I fit in. Can anyone give any pointers.

Thank You.

Pavan

You can use the following outline:

Why MBA?

How are you qualified for joining an MBA program? Academically and professionally.

How will your past experience help you in your MBA program?

Why Wharton? How will it help you achieve your goals?

Why should Wharton select you? What is so unique about you?

That's not a bad college for the MBA qualification. In fact, it is actually one of the ones that graduate people -- with fat incomes.

It will be a good idea to mention some of these words in the essay. ""a truly global presence through its engagement in the world"...

Just mention it once to make a connection, but end the first paragraph with a sentence that clearly tells what you are all about.

What is important to you?

Organization is not an issue when something is truly inspired. If you get focused on what you sincerely are passionate about -- even if it seems unrelated to your field -- you can write an intro paragraph that is full of energy and the ends with a sentence that will burn its mark in the reader's mind.
