Study in the area of properties of Minerals
It is my ambition to further my education in Experimental Geosciences master degree level in The University of Bayreuth with specific area of interest in properties of Minerals. However, I have fundamental background in the area which I obtained through my undergraduate education in Geology from Achievers University, Owo, Nigeria. I finished my undergraduate program obtaining a second class upper certificate with cumulative grade point average of 4.04 out of 5 total obtainable grades ranking in the top 5% in my class.
Furthermore, I completed an independent research project in my final year entitled "Palynological Analysis of Auchi Shale, Anambra Basin, Southwestern Nigeria". I made use of geotechnical as well as geochemical techniques in carrying out my research. I presented a final year seminar titled "Geological characteristics of Industrial Clay for Ceramic manufacture and it was ranked the best presentation at that time.
The Master program will enable me to develop the skills needed to understand the properties and characteristics of minerals under the earth. I can subsequently apply my expertise in the exploration of minerals in my home country which will contribute to the economy of the country. Also, it would provide me with an opportunity to pursue independent research with world class researchers and exposed me to the latest technologies which are not available in my country.
Having worked voluntarily with one of my lecturers as a research assistant. I also worked with other professional Geoscientists at the Nigerian Geological Survey Agency and I am very familiar with the use of Geiger counter, Pulveriser, Resistivity meter, among other equipments.
Further to this, I was actively involved in extra-curricular activities and I represented my institution in All Nigerian Private Universities Games of volleyball and won the gold medal in my first semester, I was elected the treasurer of the university students union in my second year, treasurer of Achievers University LEO club as well as acting president of the same club for two years. In addition to that, I was the chief organizer of my department's association election in my final year.
The opportunity to pursue a master's course in Germany represents the next important challenge in my life and momentous millstone to step up onto PhD situation. I have come to realised that studying and living abroad can help not only broaden my horizons but also accelerate my personal and academic growth as well. The main reason of choosing University of Bayreuth is the high quality of education that the institution offers, well-structured and highly equipped research center, the chance of meeting and associating with people from all over the world and to be immersed in a society with global outlook.

I appreciate the introductory portion of your essay where you made mention of your background. You have sufficiently expounded why you have your extensive experiences mean that you have the necessary knowledge to take your studies further.
I would recommend that you try to integrate more information about your intention in studying. You had one paragraph dedicated to this (third to the last), however it is insufficient in providing a comprehensive outlook on why you should be granted a spot in the university. You should discuss more in-depth as to why you have chosen Germany for your studies. While you have mentioned that they have a more professional and equipped researched center, it would be great if you could be more specific. Having hold of these specific information would give you a great advantage over other people. If you can expound and showcase that you have studied and looked over the syllabus in great detail, it would show a level of dedication to the field that others would not necessarily have.
In addition to this, I think that the portion wherein you mentioned more about your extra-curricular work is irrelevant to the application - or, at the very least, it does not significantly contribute to your essay. What I would recommend is instead allocate this space to other more fruitful means. For instance, you can tackle instead of your potential interests in research (as doing advanced studies is often a sign of commitment to research-oriented work).
