SOP for studying a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
As a citizen of Pakistan, I have witnessed the growing problems in our country. One of the challenges that we are facing right now is the energy crisis. As an engineer, my main goal is to contribute to the industrial development of our country. Specifically, I want to introduce and develop engineering technologies that will help in the conservation of energy. One way to achieve this goal is to enhance and level up my knowledge and skills by taking up a master's degree focusing on my field of specialization which is mechanical engineering. Just like Nelson Mandela said in his quote, "No country can really develop unless its citizens are educated", I strongly believe that education plays a vital role in the development of our country. This served as a motivational factor for me to pursue graduate studies at your prestigious university. I do believe that studying at your university will not only supplement my knowledge but will also provide me with the best platform for the attainment of my future goals.
When I was in college I was awarded as a gold medalist in academics. I enjoy studying mathematics and science like physics. Due to my innate interest in the field of mechanical engineering and with the high score that I got in the engineering entrance examination, I was able to secure a slot for an engineering class at Mirpur University of Science and Technology. My course in college has given me a wide exposure to numerous subjects like thermodynamics, refrigeration and air conditioning, heat and mass transfer, mechanics, mechanical vibrations, power plant, ICE engine, machine design, manufacturing process, engineering material etc. I had lots of rewarding experiences when I was in college and one of them is that I was able to visit different companies which exposed me to the real world of industry wherein I've experienced the application of both theories and hands-on work in an industrial set-up. I possess an immense quest for knowledge which enabled me to score 88% in both theory and actual laboratory of the above studies. In addition to this, with the increasing use of computers in every field of engineering the knowledge and skills in using Auto CAD and ANSYS also helped me to do various mechanical designs. I am very interested in the concepts of renewable energy, thermal & fluid sciences, heat & mass transfer. When I was in my last year in college, I submitted a project based on a comparative study of the solar water heater with and without thermal storage system, which is under the principle of energy conservation.
Last 2017, I gained immense exposure in the industry because of my internship. I got the opportunity to work in an oil and gas industry in Pakistan which exposed me to the world of energy conservation. This is the main interface to bring out the concept into an application.
At this juncture of my career, I feel that my educational and professional qualification coupled with the opportunities arising with tremendous industrialization have reinforced my goals and have developed a keen desire in me to pursue my master's degree in mechanical engineering at your university, this will surely equip me with comprehensive and specialized skills as an outcome of rigorous training in all aspects of mechanical engineering. With these, I can not only contribute to the industrial sector but also in academia. I will be able to share and pass on to the young students the knowledge and skills that I will learn from this study. They will become fully aware of the importance and the need for this kind of field while they are young and encourage them to become interested in the same study and develop their full potential for the benefit of our country. Browsing through the information given on the website of the university, I am highly impressed with excellent faculty members, good environment and complete facilities that the university can offer to the students. It is also good that the syllabus offered in this university is designed to meet the demands of the present set-up of an industry covering the manufacturing, production, R&D & maintenance aspects amongst others. I believe that there is no other good platform than this university to acquire advanced knowledge and skills in the field of engineering. I am confident that the master's program offered by the engineering department at your university is excellently structured to match what I need to gain professional growth and development. I believe studying in your university with high technology facilities, excellent faculty and conducive environment for studying are of utmost necessity to achieve my new heights in life.
After the study, I'm planning to continue working in an industrial sector to continually widen my technical experiences in the field. Then after gaining enough experience, I'm planning to conduct a research about engineering technologies that would help solve the energy crisis in our country like developing machines and devices that can renew energy. I also want to contribute to the department of education to share the knowledge and competencies that I have gained from your prestigious university to the aspiring engineering students in our country.
I believe that life is a constant learning process. I should not stop learning when it comes to my field of study which plays an important role in solving the current energy crisis in our country. Furthermore, I also recommend that you try to organize your thoughts and opinions a little bit more. Take, for instance, the second paragraph. You went from discussing your grounding in extracurricular activities to focusing more on your profession-specific details. I would opt that you keep these two in separate paragraphs to evade confusing readers.
