Recently the Institute of Population and Labor Economics at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences figures show an alarming 12 percentage decrease in the demand of primary teachers in the next ten years because of predicted decline in the total students. These figures are just one more factor that makes me have a sense of unemployment crisis, and then motivates me to study further at Master level in this field in order to help combat this serious problem.
At present, China's education ministry emphasizes the correlation between creative education and foundation education. However, most of teachers have been utilizing in typical traditional mode of teaching that is indoctrination education for several years, which makes me realize that it is hardly to meet the multiple demands for education of children with this way. In addition, out of my expectation, the current position is not eligible to offer me better training opportunities and further education skills which can satisfy my academic pursuits and vocational development in the coming years.
These years, I have gradually begun to focus on students' psychological process from their language, facial expression and daily behaviors that are beneficial to deal with problem behaviors effectively, which is my personal interest. However, due to lack of a solid set of modern education knowledge and skills, I am deeply aware that I cannot develop my interest adequately.
By reading the program website, courses of Psychology of Learning and Teaching as well as the Psychology of Learning problems are the best for a positive teaching effect, including sufficiently catching students' attention, motivating their initiative and helping them to keep their interests. When it comes to communication effectively with appropriate volume and expression with students and their parents, courses of Language Arts in Elementary School and Information and Communication Technologies for Teaching and Learning are necessary to resolve these problems.
As Confucius once said, "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life." To take full advantage of my teaching skills, I have entered the service in Huang Wu Primary School since 2007. In daily work, I often participate in kinds of programs such as lesson observation, evaluation and seminar. In addition, I have published some articles like 'Thinking in Singing' and 'The Thechorus Training in Primary School' in the 'Zhi Fu Education Journal'. Therefore, they give me an opportunity to know more about myself and about what life means to me. It makes me realize that advantages of this job is not only the achievement of imparting music knowledge to students, but also through a series of teaching ways to maximize their music potential. Therefore, educational work and helping children have always been the most joyful things in my life.
My education experience makes me prepare for studying in University of Windsor. During my four academic years in the Lu Dong University, I majored in education of music. At this highly respected higher-learning of teacher education institute, I received scholarship for my distinguished academic performance. Moreover, it is necessary for self-learners to read more books of multiple aspects, and I read plentiful professional books in music and psychology, which benefits the mastery of professional theory and knowledge. Taking 'Battle Hymn Of The Tiger Mother' and 'The Little Girl At The Window' as examples, I could learn the different teaching ways between Asian country and Western country, which makes me understand the field of education deeply. As a student who majored in music, I took part in the work of organization of some concerts and acted the member of organizing committee of international chorus festival. Furthermore, communicating successfully with a sponsor for our school DV play was good for my communication skills. Fortunately, worked as a broadcaster and a reporter, the ability of acquiring and editing information had been improved completely.
In view of following qualifications that I have acquired, I believe that I will acquit myself satisfactorily in the prospective M.E.D program in education that I am currently endeavoring to apply for. University of Windsor, with its high-quality education, distinguished faculty and eminent fellow students, could undoubtedly facilitate me in the achievement of remarkable academic progress and fulfill my aspiration to become an accomplished teacher in the field of education. This would not only bring my patriotic fervor into reality but also make my life more meaningful and rewarding.
