Statement of Purpose

Begins of Engineering Curiosity:

My fascination began when my father took me to science fairs to witness innovative projects. Observing my interest, my father enrolled me in summer school, which gave me a chance to do real-time projects. It was after this event that I developed an interest in how everyday gadgets function inside out and were always ready with a screwdriver box to investigate anything.

My father's first computer had stopped working, so I asked him to repair it. To my surprise, he said: "Only those with backgrounds in electronics and computers can fix it," That was my first impression, and the interest never left me. I've always had a great interest in mathematics and science, and chose them as my major when pursuing pre-university education and have regularly been among my class' top students.

Under graduation:

I believe the foundation given in the university decides the potential of a student. Joining one of the most prestigious institutions in the country, "Osmania University," was the best thing that happened to me. I chose Electronics and Communication as my major. In my first semester, I got introduced to a C programming class which changed my programming perspective. I was intrigued by how a computer program's logic can be fine-tuned with the help of mathematical knowledge. Then, I solved a series of logical problems by writing a program to calculate the answer. Following this, C++ in my second semester further sparked my interest in programming.

Building effective computer programming requires a solid understanding of data structures and algorithms. At the end of my sophomore year, I enrolled in the "Smart coder" course. I learned how to write optimized computer programs and enhanced my coding abilities. After completing the course, I worked as a teaching assistant, where I taught students to visualize coding challenges and comprehend the nature of the problem at a deeper level. My greatest coding accomplishment was winning the ACM-ICPC (International Programming Contest), considered the "Olympics of Programming Competitions", at the University level and qualifying for regionals.

Edsger Dijkstra said, "Computer Science is no more about computers than astronomy is about telescopes." In today's information age, combining your understanding of hardware with software can be used to create an efficient product. Having a thorough understanding of advanced computer science will enable me to translate my ideas from a conceptual stage to a practical application. An example was creating the Alumni website for our college, where our team was responsible for writing backend business logic in Java, in coordination with a group of Computer science students, which allowed me to develop a clear vision about pursuing a career in the field of <Course Name>

Job experience:

How the implementation class is necessary for the abstract methods to have any purpose. Similar to this, my programming expertise is worthless without building any applications, thus I decided to pursue a career in software to make a real difference and joined Hexagon as a Software Developer. The professional environment suited me perfectly and I was trained on full stack technologies. Initially, I began with the development of a UI interface to track resource allocation for our directors, at Hexagon. After observing that our team was producing new pages and writing boilerplate code for each page, So, I created a lightweight UI framework using Angular that enables other coworkers to simply create new pages.

To broaden my horizons of technical acumen, I joined DBS, Singapore where we developed an Integrated payment engine that processes domestic and international fund transfers in eight different countries. We have built a scalable application using SpringBoot, and Java and have reduced the transaction settlement time for cross-border transactions by 80 percent. This was accomplished by streamlining the code, incorporating the latest Java capabilities, and managing memory. Initially, many people disagreed with my plan to convert the entire code base to BitBucket and use GIT, but I came up with a solution and presented it to the top executives, emphasizing how GIT works with Jenkins, the primary tool we use for building, testing and deploying the application. After the migration, it was easy and time-saving to maintain the code and fix build issues. Due to the success of this application, I received numerous appreciation and recognition, and I was chosen to supervise a team of seven interns. Moving our application to the cloud was the most fascinating aspect since I learned about cutting-edge technology like AWS and the tremendous advantages of cloud-based apps.

The next step in my journey brought me to the doorsteps of Service now, where I'm working on creating a new application called "Post-Sales Support" to track warranties, services, and insurances. I was a key participant in the data model debate, where our goal was to provide a foundational framework that could be used in various sectors. My proposal of leveraging the security strategy of the base platform to avoid unauthorized access to records was well received.

Society Outreach Activities:

I firmly think that knowledge should be used to solve societal needs. My mother is fond of houseplants but keeping them alive is a significant challenge in summer. So, I developed a project which measures the soil moisture and sends a signal when the soil starts to dry. This was praised by my neighbors and was installed across the colony.

My life's passion has always been to apply my skills to benefit the community, most notably during the COVID pandemic. I developed a simple application to bridge the gap between the local cart vendors and the customers. I faced numerous challenges, from developing it to educating the end users, but I eventually succeeded.

In his book, "What technology wants," Kevin Kelly quoted, "To see where technology is going, we need to see where it has come," I gained basics, theoretical and practical exposure till now and I want to see where the technology is going in the real world. This can be done by further continuing my education.

Future Goals:

My short-term objective is to work as a Software Developer at a Fortune 500 company that allows me to use my skills and offers a positive and challenging environment to acquire new technologies and use them for the company. I take inspiration from Shantanu Narayan, CEO of Adobe and an ECE alumnus of our institution who earned his master's degree in Computer Science in the USA. My long-term goal is to progressively escalate to the top management of a major technological corporation.

The USA for Higher Studies:

The USA is the birthplace of modern technology and home to many tech giants like Facebook, Twitter, and Google. An MS degree in Computer Science from the US is one of the highly acclaimed programs in the world because of the exceptional learning opportunities and impeccable academic exposure. My decision strengthened after attending the workshop on the American educational system held by the US Consulate in Hyderabad. So, I feel there is no better place to pursue a master's degree than in the USA.

<Write about specific college>:
In this context, I would like to pursue my graduation in <Course Name>, which not only supplements the knowledge that I possess but also provides a strong platform for my future career aspirations and goals..................

There is a saying, "The only thing permanent in life is Change," This perfectly holds in the world of Computer Science Engineering where innovations keep coming. This freshness is what draws me to this field and gives me a deep sense of professional pride. My quest for knowledge has led me to the next big step (university) and I cannot wait to surround myself with the subject next year

If the writer never performed any jobs outside of the computer software or computer science field, then he is not considered to be switching from one career to another. There is no such thing as switching majors through a masters course. The applcant's undergraduate course remains his first course of completion, with his masters being his "career switch" educational background. He should not try to confuse the reviewer with his future career path by mentioning the irrelevant undergraduate background. He should merely mention it as a single paragraph that introduces the switch to computer software work upon his graduation.

His purpose should focus solely on his future career plans and how these plans will benefit from the additional training he will receive. He should work on a 5 paragraph essay for that presentation. He does not need to present an over complicated essay with a resume presentation. That is not what a statement of purpose is about.

Should the student require help in fully writing his statement of purpose based upon this existing document, then he can contact me privately for appropriate writing services. I cannot direct his writing based on this work since, as previously mentioned, the reviewer is not looking to read his resume, just a 5 paragraph purpose directed essay.
