I've met both case, but I don't think they're both correct.
Please tell me which one is right.

I think it's poorer if you talk about richer/ poorer thing.
The other one should be more poorly, like how one person was treated more poorly than the other. (I don't know if you would use more poorly or worse in this case)

I am not sure about both cases but I am sure want to know since you brought it up. Please "attack" me if i'm wrong because I don't want people to take wrong advice :)

I think ''more poorly'' is correct because I still can remember the rule that when a word consists of two syllables and ends with ''y'', we use ''more''

RyanVi16, thanks

"poorer" would be a fine substitute so you don't have to say something like more porely and be to verbose in your writing.

Thank you everybody for your help.
I guess I should ask my teacher and make sure decisively.

I agree. If I saw "more poor" it would seem wrong.

I wrote the essay poorly.

Clearer is another one like this... I thought I was supposed to write "more clear" but it is supposed to be CLEARER!! So...

I wrote the sentence in a clearer way.

I wrote the sentence poorly, but my friend wrote it even poorlier more poorly.
Ha ha... about "more poorly," I think it is correct but ugly.

Poorlier would be great, but I would be lying if I said it was a real word...

When it's used in a comparative sentence, 'poorer' is correct.
Yet, if you want to use it as adverb, you should use 'more poorly'.
