tehfunkicookie 19 / 50 Dec 12, 2011 #2has is singular and have is plural.ANYONE, EVERYONE, SOMEONE <--- those are all singular. So it is has anyone told you.The same concept is with was/wereboth of these are in the past tense and was is singular while were is plural.exampleThe apples were green vs Everyone was waiting outside.APPLES is plural. Everyone is singular. so were is used for the apples and was is used to everyone.
Jose03 - / 3 Dec 13, 2011 #3Hi, everybody. I just noticed form the Sesame Street that when we describe different parts of body, people tend to say " I have got a pair of eyes" rather than " I have a pair of eyes". Is there any difference between the two? And is it right or natural for us to say "I have". Just want to ensure I say it right and teach it right. Thanks a lot.
princedynasty 15 / 57 4 Dec 24, 2011 #4In almost every case they are interchangeable but sometimes only "have" is possible. For example:1. to experience sthI had difficulty solving that Math question.(not have got)2. Organize an event:Let's have a party (not have got a party)3. Other ordinary activities like eating, drinkingI have a cup of coffee (not have got a cup of coffee)In certain collocations, we only use "have", not "have got"I hope it helps you a bit. ;D
