Hi,
I'm so glad that I find this forum! please help me!
I have to write an college essay about the classification of TV commercials. I'm thinking to classify it into 3 parts: profit-organization, non-profit organization and government. But I feel confused of two things:

First, are these three parts belong to TV commercial "producers"? cause I want to start
one sentence as ''TV commercials can be classified by[blank], they are profit-organizations, non-profit organization and government""
Second, can I use these three catogories on my essay? I'm not sure if government's military call-up belongs to commercial ad.

I'd really appreciate that anyone could give me advice.

Greetings!

It's difficult for me to know what your teacher meant by "classification" of TV commercials. There are many ways they could be classified. Certainly, your categories are one way. One could also classify them into products vs. services; categories of products or services (e.g., breakfast cereals, auto insurance, network programs); humorous or non-humorous; those geared toward specific age markets (youth, seniors, etc.). To fill in the blank in your sentence, you could simply say "TV commercials can be classified into those produced by for-profit companies, non-profit organizations and government-sponsored ads."

I hope this helps!

Thanks,
