This is a very important topic of religion vs. Science should be taken forward for discussion before coming to a concluding remark. I believe this statement is little bit biased towards ancient time philosophy where religion used to play an important role in all societies. There were certain norms and beliefs in each religion and common people used to have blind faith in it and each religion head e.g. Pope in Church or Priest in Temples had tremendous influence on civilian, so the words taught by them or mentioned in religious books used to be the accepted truth or wisdom at that point of time. So the ancient society was quite conservative and hence unwilling to adapt new thinking or inventions. However in modern days, people are more open minded, educated and possess high thinking power unlike their predecessor. In today's world most of the countries are democratic and hence people have got more rights and privilege to speak openly. Time has changed now and it is science which has played a major role at this time. People are more curious and inquisitive to learn new things and hence to adapt new inventions. Discoveries by great scientists are always given importance and for further research Government of developed countries are ready to invest on grooming those ideas in search of important truths.
If we look into world history, there are instances, where discoveries or important truths discovered by great scientist were abandoned simply and they were disowned by the society or gone through severe punishment. A very good example could be theory of Copernicus, who had contradicted the common people belief that Earth is at the Center and Sun along with other planets revolves around it by saying Sun is motionless and lies at the Center and earth along with other planets revolves around it. This was not at all accepted and was considered as hypothesis forever until Galileo came to the same conclusion and supported the truth invented by Copernicus. Galileo was harassed, criticised by the people, forced to deny his given statements in public. But certainly with time people have realised the truths and so we are now at this modern leading technology era. With time Science has overruled the religious sentiments of the people and people are more receptive towards the important truths. One great example could be Big Bang theory by Edwin Hubble in 1929, who has mentioned about the formation of Universe by saying that our Universe does have starting point, which started as a infinitely hot, dense and tiny called Singularity around 13.7 billion years ago. After it's initial appearance, than slowly it got expanded, cooled going from very small , hot to the size of temperature of today's universe. Similarly Scientist believes on extraterrestrial planet life and doing serious research to unveil the actual truths. Space Scientist are more enthusiast to study about other planets and their nature. Scientist have landed in moon, space and definitely a day will come they will successfully venture into other planets and many more truths will be unfolded going forward and it will be accepted if proven without much criticism.
Now the world has changed and so the people's mindset and with time as theory evolution has mentioned the modern age people certainly possess more thinking power than their ancestors. Gone are those days where people used to have blind faiths and fear to accept the truth. In these advanced days people are so well connected with each other, open minded and ready to share knowledge across globe. Developed countries like USA, UK spends millions of dollars on developing patents and on research. So at the end I would like to say that important truths or discoveries with serious evidences are seriously taken by the people and accepted by the people, certainly conscience and thinking has played measure roles than sentiments and rigidness.

With time science has overruled the religious sentiments of the people, and...----I added a comma, too. When you have a "compound sentence" use a comma before the conjunction.
Plural:
Scientists have landed on the moon and explored space, and definitely a day will come when they will successfully venture to other planets and many more truths will be unfolded going forward. and it New ideas will be accepted if proven without much criticism.
Try not to write such long sentences! Even if your English is perfect, you should write short sentences. Short sentences are more powerful. :-)
