Statement of Purpose
I grow up in small village xxxx, and it was pretty had to get clean drinking water. I have to get up very early at 4 am every day to go get clean water from the stream. I have to leave the house very early because the distance from our home to the stream was about 6 miles and to get clean water. I started doing a research on how to drill water well in our back yard. I spend a lot of time researching and I contacted a local consulting firm that specializes in drilling residential water wells. I came to realized that it was very expensive my parents cannot afford it. I decided to go with my next option which was digging a well manually. I contacted some of my friends and I coordinate the project. Three weeks of digging seven meters of hole in our yard water start flowing. I was very excited because final I have solve the water problem. I did a further research on the geological structure of our village and found out that some area in the village actually have a shallow water reservoir bed that can allow us to dig shallow water wells by just digging few meters deep. It was a great deal for me because I have being trying to help my communities about this water issues. My friends and I form a small group to dig three well in the village to helped the people. These projects has been a great kick start to my interested to energy production.
In 1997 after high school, I jointed a small NGO company call Mason International. The company goal was too insured that poor communities have good clean drinking water. I choose to jointed the drilling department of the company because it will help me realized my dream of becoming a drilling engineer. While in this company I provide technical support on the rig site. As we drill water well around the neighboring villages it gave me a brilliant experience that initiated my passion to study engineering. My desire and determination to become an engineer grows rapidly and I was pretty motivated to become one and also earn a Master of Engineering in the future. My willingness to learn and research more on energy production pursues me to seek for higher education. In fall 1999 I was offered admission to study engineering in XXXX University, with an emphasis in pre-engineering. I am very proud to say that my field worked gave me a rich engineering experience that has help me to be among the very best to excel in my class. The College of Engineering Dean's Honor Roll award me Dean's Honor Roll award in Fall 1999, 2000, 2002 and Spring 2002. In spring 2003 I was granted admission into University of XXXX, where I continues my studies in engineering with emphasis in Electrical Engineering. In the spring of 2003 and 2005 I was honor with Dean's Honor Roll award from the College of Engineering. I also received the Multicultural Engineering Program (MEP) Engineering Scholar Award for 2005 and 2006 academic year. In December 2005, I graduated from the University of XXXX with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. My educational achievement in Electrical Engineering has helped me establish a firm professional experience, and develop a strong interested in studying Master of Engineering.
My initial career path was to be a petroleum engineer. It became a reality when I was offered an engineering position with one of the World largest oil services company XXXXX to work as a field engineer in 2006. This offered placed my career path in the right direction. I was send to XXXXX training center for six months. The training exposed me with great knowledge of petroleum technology, reservoir and petroleum geology, oil field cement design technology, cement bond log and formation evaluation, petroleum production, fracturing techniques, and foam calculation for CO2/N2. This training helped me solidify my interested in Petroleum Engineering and more specific to study Master of Engineering in Petroleum Engineering. I designed and test cement to cement both horizontal and vertical wells. Engineer the pumping of Tuned light and foam cement in critical wells to control lost circulation or washout problems. I did lots of problem jobs investigation reports. Perform a researched on production and injection wells to identify water control problem that occurs in these wells. Inject CrystaSeal polymer into these wells to improved reservoir recovery efficiency. Designed and executed reservoir stimulation using hydraulic fracturing techniques to frac shale formation in both horizontal and vertical wells. Engineer QA/QC and perform FET (Fluid Efficiency Test) on site. Also designed, build and install many completion tools in both horizontal and vertical wells. I am member of SPE and I have attended SPE Liquids-Basins Conference "New Technology for Old Plays". My activities and involvement with oil and gas industry for the past eight years in West Texas have led me to matured high interested in studying Mater of Engineering in Petroleum Engineering. This will seal my career path with oil and gas industry, and will also prepare me to face new challenges in the industry.
An outstanding education achievement, brilliant oil field engineering skills and experiences, strong capabilities to carry out many researches, noticeable mathematical and science ability to logical thinking will lead me into XXXXX Graduate School of Petroleum Engineering. Your prestigious University has taking the lead in long distance education and I want to be among the people that will enjoy the fruitfulness of your lead. Admitting me into this master program will give me a wonderful opportunity to devote myself to the production of oil and gas energy. It helps me to be involved in researching ways to improve the production of oil and gas that will have less impact to the environment. My ultimate goal is to become a completions engineer with more emphasis in production and completion.
