Non commmunicable diseases(NcDs) are the leading cause of death and disability worldwide. According to WHO ,"NCDs kill 41 million people each year, equivalent to 74% of all deaths globally". In Botswana NCDs account for 46% deaths (CGTN,2022).Despite this indication of a health crisis, Botswana still lacks comprehensive data on Ncds, effective policies and interventions and has inadequate integration of NCD management in healthcare affecting the ability of its health system to tackle them more especially in rural areas. To resolve these gaps robust research and effective policies and interventions need to the done. It is for this reason that I want to pursue an Mph in Epidemiology to find solutions.My proposed study relates to the CSC Development Theme of strengthening health systems and capacity as it focuses on disease prevention and control while contributing to resilient health systems. Through modules like epidemiology methods and global health policy and research I will acquire the skills and knowledge needed to conduct research ,translate data and inform policies and interventions in Botswana, improving health outcomes and ultimately strengthening the health system and capacity.
