Graduate / I come from a family of Teachers; SOP FOR ELCTRICAL ENGINEERING [4]
please help me to rectify my mistakes. some suggestions needed to conclude this...
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
It is after a good deal of self-evaluation that I have decided to pursue graduate studies in Computer Engineering. This decision followed naturally after carefully considering my academic background and the areas of my interest.
As a member of Teachers family I always encouraged to get better education. I am also keeping myself in the world of learning by showing zeal towards Mathematics. Ever since I was in school I engaged with Mathematics while doing homework with my mother (she is a Mathematics teacher). I was fortunate to get best teachers and lecturers in school and college. The fascination towards Mathematics continued with their support. I always wanted to assimilate knowledge as much as possible from them.
After completed schooling with 83.16% standing first in mathematics, I choose my pre university program with majors- Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. A satisfactory performance with 92.4%, made a clear way to study my undergraduate in Engineering. I developed special interest in electronics after carefully observing the electronic devices around me. The fascination to make and work with them persuaded me to choose Electronics and Communication as my major. To fulfil this dream, I written EAMCET entrance exam and qualified as top 10 percentile student among 370,000 candidates. After qualifying in a highly competitive exam in India, I secured seat in Chirala Engineering College. The consistency shown since school continued with 74.93% in undergraduate and placed 5th among 132 students in department.
My undergraduate study at college helped me in gaining an excellent understanding of the fundamentals in Electronics and Communications through a well structured and comprehensive course curriculum which concentrates on concepts and practical aspects through class room discussions, projects and seminars.
The course structure I learnt during undergraduate have a vast scope towards career. First two years I was exposed to basic core subjects like Electronics Devices and Circuits, Signals and Systems, Control Systems, Pulse Digital Circuits, Switching Theory and logic design with programming subjects such as C programming, Object Oriented Programming. In my third and final years, I learnt Computer Organization, Computer Networks, Digital & Linear IC applications, Microprocessors and Interfacing, Digital Signal Processing, VLSI Design etc.
In addition to this, under graduate projects 'TELE AUTOMATION HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCES' and 'MULTI PROTOCOL DIGITAL CONTROL SYSTEM' have given me opportunity to work on MICROCONTROLLER with a four member group. First one processes the decoded telephone signal from DTMF controller, and operates the Electrical devices such as Fans, Lights and Motors etc. Final project is for the purpose of safety and security, uses sensors to prevent the damage and wastage. Controls gas leakages and unnecessary usage of electrical devices. The knowledge and experience I got during the implementation of these projects had given me a great understanding of applying 8051 microcontroller in real time. I have also trained in Assembly language while implementing these projects.
Apart from academics, I am the member of Indian Society of Electronics & Communication EngineersŽ, has given me the opportunity to keep abreast with the latest in today's advancing technology. I have also been made acquainted with programming languages like C++, JAVA and operating systems as WINDOWS & UNIX. I also presented a technical paper presentation on POLYMER MEMORY in a national level technical symposium organized in our college. I have participated and organized technical quizzes which enable my communication skills.
My undergraduate curriculum offers me to work in so many areas both in hardware and software fields. But my interest lies in Microprocessors, Microcontrollers and Digital signal processing. I've covered numerous topics in microprocessors such as the Intel 8085, 8086 and their instruction sets along with peripheral devices, the ISA bus and the 8051 microcontroller. I have taken DSP processors and Architectures, Embedded Systems as electives in my final semester to get involved in world of computers and its peripherals.
I firmly believe that inquisitive and explorative attitude leads to constant learning process. As an Electronics Engineer, I look for graduate study to refine my knowledge and skills in my areas of interest. I believe it will also serve to give direction to my goal of a career as research oriented organization.
After consulting my Professors, Friends, seniors studying in USA your university has been recommended very highly for its excellent faculty & learning experience. I always believe that essence of university education lies in synergetic relationship between student and his department. I feel that graduate study at your university will be the most logical extensions of my objectives. I am confident that wholesome education that I receive at your university will stand me in good stead throughout my career.
