I'm working on my application for 2017 KGSP. This is my future plan below. I've tried to make it as specific as i can. Please let me know is there any thing can be done better. have a good day!

Putting academic knowledge in practice is essential. Not only for gaining practical experience in workplace but also to contribute my ability back to the Korean society, after completing my master's degree in International business, I plan to work in Korea for two years before going back to (My home country). The title of my research paper is about the international marketing strategy of Korean entertainment industry, which is to explore the strategy of international marketing and how it can be apply to business in my home country. Thus, I aim to work in marketing department in the top international cooperation in Korea, like Samsung, for the further understanding of the applied techniques. While working in the company, I will apply the business knowledge I learned in university and graduate school in practice. Being able to speak three languages fluently by then, I hope to become the useful asset to the company and provide them ideas with my international perspective. Meanwhile, I will keep on uploading my blog to share my stories in Korea with the world and to help out those who are interesting in Korean culture or planning to study or work in Korea.

After going back to (My home country), I plan to work in Samsung Company in (My home country) for another two years. With the experience of working in Korea, I am surely qualified and know well about the company tasks. By comparing the different branch offices, I get to understand the localization of marketing and have a clearer picture of Taiwanese markets.

Small and Medium Enterprise account the majority of business in (My home country), however the lack of the knowledge of international trade and marketing becomes the huge obstacles for (My home country) business to grow international wise. My father started a business from scratch since he was young, due to the childhood poverty, he did not pursue high education. Even holding a patent in many countries on a technique of producing goods in the industry, without the international business knowledge and marketing skills, the hard work goes in vain. After receiving high education in international business and practical working experience in marketing, I plan to go back to my hometown, pick up the business, and put the blueprint in practice.

Thank you so much for your advices! I really appreciated it. Since i didn't mention about my fathers business in my study plan, I decided not to do so in my future plan either. I am actually also working on my study plan as well. is it okay to close this thread first and then post a new one about my study plan?

Growing up amazed by the diverse culture difference from all over the world and gradually influenced by the family business, Being a successful international businesswomen has always been my goal in life. During the process of receiving my bachelor's degree on international business from Tamkang University, my determination got clearer and stronger. My interests toward the subjects led to my excellent academic performance. The experience of being an exchange student studied in U.S.A. reminded me that the importance of being open mind and always seizing the chance to step out of my comfort zone to challenge myself since "As you sow, so will you reap." Even it may be a challenge for me to study in Korea; I know after the school years and practical works after graduation, I am going to be a huge step closer toward my goal.

Title or subject of research


At the generation of globalization, the ease of transportation not only broadens our vision but also the market. Business is no longer limited by the borders. Deals are made all over the world. Due to fast pace of information delivery, efficiency to reach the most benefit is essential. That's when international business comes to place. International business allows every country to concentrate on their comparative advantages, in the same time, still leads benefits to both trading countries.

However, the frequency of international business also causes culture synchronizing. With stronger barging counters, Cultures in countries like U.S.A. are more likely to spread to every corner of the world along with the exporting goods. Mainstream culture in small countries tends to be invaded by global strong culture. In the recent years, a new pop vibrated the world, started from Asia then even the western countries. Korean Fad was no longer just the limited in the entertainment industry. The soft power is leading the hard power to take over the world market. Korea is relatively a more conservative country compared to others in the world, even in Asia. How does it as a small country with only about 50 million populations not only keep its own unique culture but also even being able to take over the mainstream trend while globalization is synchronizing the world? The answer is definitely the International marketing strategy in Korean entertainment industry and the application to Taiwanese market.

(my home country) is a small country in Asia, being restricted by the politic issues on the world stage. Even having similar background and geography status with Korea, the economic present is no longer competitive and having negative growth. I long to be able to use what I learn and discover during the process of completing the research about international marketing strategy in practice for not only my personal success but a better future for (my home country) economy.

Detailed study plan
Before my arrival in Korea, in preparation of studying in Korea for three years, Korean language is essential. My goal is to be able to receive TOPIK 6 certificate within the first year in Korea. Thus, before taking off from (my home country), I will make the most of the time I have rest to improve my Korean ability through TTMIK website and start previewing Level 3 textbook from the Korean institution. I will also read more local Korean news online to help me to easily connect with the society when I arrive in avoid of the future culture shock. In the First year in Korea, once settling down in Korea, I am going to start an online blog in order to record my life and also to share my studying experience in Korea which can help foreigner to get to know about Korean culture more and also share my view with the locals in a foreigner's perspective. When attending language institution, I will not only do my best to in class but also try to get involve in the activities. On the other hand, I will be active in the language exchange program and the culture experiencing program, in order to adapt in the culture quickly. In my spare time, I will travel to outside of Seoul, and to get to know the different part of Korea. After finishing four terms in language institution, I plan to receive TOPIK level 6 certificate before entering graduate school. By the end of the year, in order to be able to link up with the regular school, I will start getting involved with the campus life, like joining volunteer groups in school and school clubs.

In the second year, due to having my bachelor's degree in International Business (English program), I have confident in taking full English taught courses. I will start by taking courses like "Introduction to International Relations," "International Money and Capital Markets", "International Finance," and "Investment Analysis for Global Fund Management" in the first semester, in order to build the foundation of understanding the global market present. By the second semester, I plan to finish most of the graduate required credits, and especially to take classes like "Data Analysis," which can provide me the ability to analysis the future data collected for my research.

Last year in Korea, I will finish all the graduate required credits by the first semester, and focus mostly on the plan and schedule for finishing the research paper. I will also take extra Korean courses from "Marketing Department," like "International marketing," "Internet marketing," and "Design marketing," in order to understand from Korean's perspective for a more detailed paper result in "International marketing strategy in Korean entertainment industry." By the end of the year, I will receive my master's degree and start an internship in school cooperated company.

this's what i got so far. I know it's messy. but Im so stuck and lost :(

I've rewrite my title/subject of research according to the steps you wrote. Please let me know what improvement should be done for a better result. and for goal of study and detail study plan. should i keep them or rewrite them as well? I feel like im missing the point when I am writing my SOP. I dont really know what they want so im always confused :(

(My country) is a small country in Asia, as an island country only with xx million population, (My country) economy highly depends on the export. Being restricted by the politic issues on the world stage, it's usually left out in the international free trade agreements, which is extremely harmful for (My country) economy to grow in this globalization generation. Lack of the international supports and awareness, MIX (Made in (My country)) product is not a hit in the world market. However, (My country) is actually in charge of producing High-tech component for lots international brands and also having competitive strength in lots industries. (My country) has to build the name up before it's too late.

Korea has similar historical and geography background as (My country). However, the economy present is much ahead. In the recent years, Korean Fad vibrates the world, which started from Asia then spread to even the western countries. Due to the successful International marketing strategy in Korean entertainment industry, Korea gets to keep its own unique culture and also even being able to take over the mainstream trend worldwide. It is no longer just the limited in the entertainment industry. Korean culture and life style become the trend, and the Industry chain is leading the economy of the country up and still growing rapidly.

(My country) entertainment industry was once popular in Asia. I believe that with a well-designed international marketing strategy and the cooperation in all industries and the government, (My country) entertainment will be able to establish its own reputation, and further bring up the international awareness of (My country) and the (My country) economy. In my research, I will first explore the international marketing of Korean entertainment industry and then find out the shortcoming in the (My country) entertainment industry. At the end of my research, I will analyze the improvement should be done in the (My country) entertainment industry.

For exploring Korean entertainment industry, I will start from doing research about the starting and development of the K-pop trend and for understanding what other factors are involved. Second, I will do Case study on the new up climbing boy band - BTS to see how a k-pop band was built from zero to world-famous and the marketing strategy used during the process. Third, in order to understand how K trend started to take place in the foreign audiences' heart and to find out the reasons, I will conduct Survey-questionnaire study method targeting on non-Korean audience. Forth, I will use status study method to analyze the top 5 best sell Korean dramas to find out the similarity.

For (My country) entertainment industry, I will start from doing the research about the development of in industry and since when/how it started to fall. In comparison of how Korean boy band was built, I will also do a case study on (My country) boy band. For conducting Survey-questionnaire study method, I will focus on two groups of crowds, Korean celebrities' fans in (My country) to find out why choose Korean entertainment over (My country) and both local and foreign (My country) celebrities' supporters to find out the strength of (My country) entertainment industry. In comparison of Korean dramas, I will also conduct status study method to analyze the top 5 sell (My country) dramas.

With the information and research collected above, I will analyze the doable marketing strategy in Korean entertainment industry and how it should be apply to (My country) entertainment. Expected result is that the success of the industry is not done by one single company, but with the support of Korean government and the cooperation of other industry. The strict training done to the celebrity results to the talented performer and on top of that marketing strategy. The growth of (My country) entertainment industry should start from the supports of (My country) government. The company should invest more on the celebrity for the stronger performance strength. I've finished writing this long time ago. Now working on my study plan and future plan. I just wanna post this up and to make sure it's a good induction for my application. Please let me know if there is any improvement should be done. this scholarship really means a lot to me. I appreciate your help.

I am a leader among my peers



My name is (Name), major in international business in xxx University in xxx. I will receive my bachelor's degree in May 2017 and I hope to continue on the path of academic improvement to help me achieve my goal in life. My dream is to be a successful international business woman who is able to help the world reach harmony and improve human welfare. I was born in a small town in southern Taiwan. Although my parents did not pursue a higher education, they are self-made adults. My parents built a thriving business from scratch and through that example I learned that as long as you work hard you can do anything. Growing up under my parent's liberal education style has made me independent, accountable and helped me to become an opinionated, discerning and a more open-minded person to myself and others.

My friends describe me as a persuasive, passionate and confident person. With my strong personality, I am a leader among my peers. I was voted as a class representative in middle school and in high school. As a leader, I believe in teamwork. My leadership not only allows my voice to be heard but also allows me to build strong relationships with others. I continue to practice this until this day. I was a leader of the public relations section in xxx school club and a member in students' association. While being active in school clubs, I learned not only how to make friends and interact with a diverse array of people but also learned how to host activities, lead others and the ways to organize. Newton once said "If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants." I believe in contribution to the community. Thus I became part of the social welfare club at school. I had the chance to volunteer to teach children English in the mountainside of xxxx. Although I was the one teaching them, I felt like I was the one who actually learned more. In hard power, Korea's business strength is famous worldwide. Top universities in Korea receive some of the highest rankings in the world. Being able to study business in Korea will solidify my path to reaching my goal. In the process of being an international business woman, being able to speak more than one foreign language is essential. Having unbreakable bonds with Korean friends enhanced my interest in learning Korean. In order to improve my Korean ability, I attended xxx University Korean Language Institution last summer and received a TOPIK 2 certificate. While in Korea, I was much impressed and appreciated my time in Korea. I fell in love with the country. I made a promise to myself to go back to Korea someday and KGSP is my shot.

It's amazing how KGSP provides many financial supports and academic benefits. What's more important is that being in this program, students are able to get to know people from all over the world and exchange different cultures while attending graduate school. Being able to be a part of the program will be an amazing opportunity for me in being able to receive the advanced education without worrying about the financial difficulty, and it will bring me that much closer toward my goal.
