Kindly review this and pass on your comments. I am posting this article to a Managerial post in a IT company.

Professional Experience

I am an Information Technology graduate from Madras University with 6 years 3 months of work experience in software industry. Both my educational and professional experiences have not only increased my technical competency, but also prepared me to meet my long-term career goal of being a senior executive in a technology-oriented company. I have an attitude to reach altitudes.

I started my career as a trainee, where in I was involved in application testing. I used to report issues to the developers, and most of the times defects get rejected. Since my experience levels were too low, I was not in a position to speak out. But I have learnt my lessons looking at my lead, he used to report the same issues addressed by me in a different way which the developer has to accept. I always make a point that I note down everything about addressing the defects to the developers. This made me understand what developers think when testers address an issue. Understanding this was a great achievement for me in developing my career.

I was having a constant growth in my career till date. My biggest achievement was becoming a project lead with in 5 yrs of software experience. As a project lead I travelled to US as a onsite coordinator. I was deputed to Fedex smartpost at Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I had to interact with the client, prepare a KT plan, KT on the application to offshore, Prepare a project plan, structure the team at offshore and ensure I am within the budget allocated. All the activities were assisted by my delivery manager for the first phase and next phase on I was taking care of the activities. My team was awarded as the best performer during this period as there was revenue of almost 47% to the company. I was appreciated for playing a crucial role as an onsite coordinator. This successful execution made the client as well as my parent company pretty confident in me. As a result Client awarded some more projects (Testing and Development).

I came back to India on my wish, even though the client resisted with the higher management to hold me at his work place. In India I was given a team of 14 people which includes testers, automation testers and release management. This was a product implementation where the development team is also at the same place. It was a waterfall model of development cycle and, my involvement was there from the beginning of the life cycle, from requirements till Integration testing. I work closely with the development team to plan for the releases and patches. Many times my management skills were challenged as

1. If there are more issues reported, development will be questioned by the client
2. If there are fewer issues reported, testing will be questioned by the client.

I had to maintain a threshold on the no of issues for every release. I was also looking at each resource workload on a daily basis; to ensure no one is overloaded or less loaded with work. Ensure there is no 100% dependency on any resource. Arrange cross module transition.

As a part of team management, I was involved in the CMM audits that happen every 3 months. I am a part of the delivery team that consists of my senior project Manager, Delivery manager and the delivery director. I was allocated a stipulated budget to run the team and had to maintain the team in the budget and recognize revenue of the budget allocated. As always there used to be a target of 50% revenue, which I was not able to achieve in the beginning. Later on with inputs from the senior management, I gradually restructured the team, sorted out the weak points, requested the team to work hard when ever needed , implementing all these I was able to reach to 45% revenues before the SOW expired. This was a tremendous achievement from me. It is like a dream come true.

What made me a successful leader
1. Learn from people who are more intellectual than me
2. Share knowledge with people who are at my intellectual level
3. Offer Help to people who are less than my intellectual levels
This makes me a good team player as well as a project lead.

Very impressive accomplishments, very good organization. You had some awkward sentences, but here are my ideas:

...with six years 3 months of work experience in software industry.

Both My educational and professional experiences...

...as a trainee, a role that i nvoled application testing.

I have had constant growth from the commencement of my career until the present time . My biggest achievement was becoming a project lead withi n five years of the time joined the organization.
