Job application letter (nanny position)

Dear Sir/Madam,

My name is Nga Phan. I am a 26-year-old student from Danang city. I came across your advertisement in the Australian magazine and would like to apply for the nanny position at your home.

I have no experience in this field of industry but I would like to challenge myself since I am very hardworking and learn fast. However, I used to work at a bubble tea shop, which has enhanced my communication skills and I believe that can become my greatest asset for this position. As a result, I think I can perform well and live up to your expectation. Besides, participating in many extracurricular activities has built up my soft skills such as customer service and time organization.

I am interested in this position because I love kids and want to challenge myself in this new type of environment. I also appreciate the pay rate and benefits that the position can offer.

This letter is not well developed. While you introduced yourself in an acceptable manner in the first paragraph, you did not clarify where the job location is, what the name of the magazine where you found the job opening was, and a quick summary of your interest in the position.

You are immediately disqualified as an applicant when you mention that you have no experience in the role. It would have been to your benefit if you claimed instead, to have been an unpaid nanny in your family being the older or oldest sibling in a family of 3 or 4 kids. Using your experience in helping your mother care for your siblings to take the place of the required work experience. Your work experience in the bubble tea shop is irrelevant to the job of a nanny so, while you do have work experience, it would not be considered for the role.

A letter such as this one would not help to gain the interest it needs to call attention to your application.
