Hi, I am applying for a Master's in Aerospace engineering in France, can I please have my draft checked? Thank you so much! (I'm cencoring some of the info for security reason, please understand)

Dear Members of the Admissions Committee,

I am currently in my final year of the Bachelor in [SPACE MAJOR] at the [COLLEGE NAME] in Vietnam, writing to formally submit my application for the International Master in Aerospace Engineering at École Centrale de Lyon for the 2027-2028 academic year. The program promises to provide an excellent environment and opportunity for my goal of deepening my expertise in the space sector.

During the first years of my Bachelor's, I was given chances to get in touch with several space programs relevant to my major. While focusing on satellite technology, I also became fascinated by dissecting the hardware of these aeronautic structures, wondering how those steel birds can fly. Holding that interest throughout my undergraduate studies, I dedicated myself to developing a solid grounding in Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, and Space System Design through coursework and group tasks.

Wanting to bridge theoretical coursework with physical hands-on projects, I participated in the [TRAINING PROGRAM] with the Vietnam National Space Center (VNSC) in the [SPECIFIC PROGRAM], where I worked on the subsystem and hardware assembly of a 1U CubeSat. Specifically, I performed EPS TO RF communication integration, ground station telemetry validation, and sensor calibration. In parallel, I am also conducting my final-year group project on the topic [PROJECT NAME] with my supervisor at VNSC, where I apply systems-engineering workflows to structural assemblies and flight validation, building an autonomous payload that attaches under a drone (acting as our spacecraft). These practical experiences equipped me with skills in parametric 3D CAD modeling and finite element analysis (FEA) using CATIA, 3DEXPERIENCE, and Abaqus, alongside computational modeling and simulation in Python and MATLAB.

My decision to pursue graduate education in France stems from the nation's technological leadership in global aeronautics and space exploration (CNES, ESA, Airbus, and the Aerospace Valley cluster). Moreover, during my Bachelor's at [COLLEGE NAME], established under the France-Vietnam intergovernmental consortium, I was an organizer of [STUDENT-PROF CONNECTION PAROGRAM], where I coordinated seminars connecting students with French engineers and international space researchers, these gave me opportunities to interact and learn closely from leaders in the space programs in France, reinforced my conviction that France provides the highest standard of my future aerospace training.

The International Master in Aerospace Engineering at École Centrale de Lyon directly aligns with my academic path through its specialized coursework in advanced fluid dynamics, aeroacoustics, and aerostructures. In particular, I am drawn to the program's M2 Propulsion specialization track, which bridges fundamental compressible flow with advanced aerothermal engine design. Furthermore, Centrale Lyon's world-class research ecosystem, notably the LMFA and LTDS laboratories, and its close collaborative links with European aerospace leaders such as Airbus, Safran, and Dassault provide the ideal environment to conduct high-impact research, which will benefit me immensely in my future research and career.

Following my degree, my short-term objective is to work and further my expertise through an R&D Master's thesis or industrial internship within a European aerospace research laboratory or enterprise. In the long term, I aim to progress into an Aerospace Structures & Systems Engineer, focusing on mechanical assembly, payload integration, and structural validation within European or international aerospace programs. Ultimately, this degree will equip me with the appropriate knowledge and qualifications to contribute to aerospace and satellite observation projects between France and Southeast Asia, advancing the aviation and space industry in Vietnam.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration of my application. I look forward to the opportunity of joining École Centrale de Lyon.

Sincerely,

The motivation letter is good. It shares your educational background as it is relevant to the course and shows how well prepared you are in terms of theoretical proficiency and some practical exposure. However, all of these references become lacking when it does not highlight your academic success as a student. Recognition should match the skills you are describing. While collaborations are okay, not having the university acknowledge you as a remarkable academic student kind of lessened the impact of everything you had to say.

Bring your short and long term plans up to the start of the essay. Integrate it into the discussion early on. I would suggest doing that within the discussion points that relate to your significant academic training.
