Having trouble writing a research paper on gamma rays and I'm not sure how to start.

Our assignment is to write an 8-10 page paper on a topic that we had to choose from a list that was provided for us. Since I'm in a chemistry class, we have to write about its chemistry and focus less on the history, uses, etc. My problem is that I cannot figure out how to start the paper itself without having to present some sort of history on the matter. I'm very confused and the deadline is quickly approaching. I have all the research that I need but I cannot find the right way to begin talking about gamma rays. There is also very little chemistry having to do with gamma rays so I'm already trying to scrape up as much info as I can. All I need to do is put the paper itself together. I'm stressing out very much. Please help.

generally, papers start with general and obvious facts. For example you can start by introducing gamma rays which is well defined in wikipedia.
