Ensuring safe animal protein is a cornerstone of Indonesia's national strategy to eradicate stunting, particularly through the government's Free Nutritious Meal Program. Eggs, being safe and nutrient-dense, are vital to this initiative due to its flexibility usage and cheaper protein sources. However, by 2030, Indonesia is predicted to face a looming crisis as one of the top five countries with the highest estimated increase in antimicrobial consumption in livestock. This trend accelerates antimicrobial resistant (AMR), posing a severe threat to global public health and environmental sustainability. To address this, I am driven to develop synbiotics as synergistic and efficient feed additive. This project aims to ensure stable egg production and food safety while maintaining livestock sustainability, effectively aligning my technical expertise with Indonesia's long-term food security goals.
To this action, my first initiative is to gain advance knowledge and experience in animal nutrition by continuing my studies. Master of Animal Science in the University of Queensland will strengthen my foundation in complex cases to bridge animal nutrition and global threat in AMR. I research online about this course, this program has a specific course in gut health manipulation and many research related in alternative feed additive application led by Prof. Soumeh which aligned with my interest.
Alternatively, the University of Melbourne offers Master of Agriculture Sciences with a specialization in Animal Science. This program draws my interest due to its alignment with sustainable agriculture and food security initiative. Specifically, their research capability in animal and meat science focus on improving production efficiency, microbiome analysis, and animal welfare under changing climate. Studying in UniMelb will enable me to benchmark Australia's sophisticated livestock management against Indonesia's current climate challenge to find applicable and sustainable solutions.
