ali8 1 / 1 Apr 15, 2011 #1Hi guys,Although these two titles seems quite separate, the description in the scholarship sitesuggests that they are overlapping. Here's the Research Objective description:"Write a clear and detailed description of your study/research objectives, and give your reasonsfor wanting to pursue them. Be specific about your major field and your specializedinterests within this field . Describe the kind of program you expect to undertake, and explainhow your study plan fits in with your previous training and your future objectives . This statement is an essential part of your application and is required"And here's the Personal Statement description, note the overlapping:"This personal statement should be a narrative statement describing how you have achieved yourcurrent goals. It should not be a mere listing of facts. It should include information about youreducation , practical experience, special interests, andcareer plans . Describe any significant factors that have influenced your educational orprofessional development. Comment on the number of years of practical experience alreadycompleted in the field in which academic work will be done in the U.S."I find these to be the same:]major field and your specialized interests within this field VS educationpractical experience VS previous trainingcareer plans VS future objectivesHow could I write two essays without being repetitive ???I mean, according to the description I will be mentioning my employment history twice, my university education twiceand my future objectives/career plan twice. This is not so good. What do you think ??Regards,
engwriting101 - / 23 Apr 15, 2011 #2I'm not a teacher. The first question is asking you to write about goals, and objectives you wish to accomplish in school. How you will prepare yourself in order to succeed and why you will succeed. The second question is asking you to talk about your past achievements and accomplishments, that led up to this. Talk about how you've worked and prepared to get to where you are now. Preperations or opportunities you tookGood luck

A narrative is a story. So... in the first one you can explain your well-developed plan in a clear, professional way, and then in the second one tell the story about your experience.I think you are right. It really does seem repetitive. Just do your best with it! It is an important enough subject for you to spend some time explaining in 2 different ways.:-) Does that help you?
