Chevening is looking for individuals who will be future leaders or influencers in their home countries. Explain how you meet this requirement, using clear examples of your own leadership and influencing skills to support your answer.
My answer:
My journey toward Leadership and influencing has been shaped by engaging with diverse environments and experiencing a new life style, as someone who grew up in small village with it's own unique dialect, I wanted to explore the world behind my usual life, which led me to live in Europe in Czech republic for almost 6 months as exchange Erasmus student, while pursuing my bachelor's degree in my home city, also living for 6 years in Amman, capital of Jordan, to work on IT companies, was another experience that exposed me to a different way of life.
Both experiences shaped my thoughts and ideas and helped my to notice the difference between the languages and dialects and how it's affect our way of thinking, living in Europe and communicating in English language introduce me to new ideas and way of thinking which feed my personal experience, even moving to Amman and interacting with the community there, through attending different events and meeting new people, sparked my interests in linguistics and the role of the language in our minds.
Beyond my professional life, I have been an active person for the people around me. I supported my siblings financially to pursue university education, believing in the power of education. I also helped tourists through language exchange meetings, introducing them to Amman, our culture and to my local friends, even hosting some of them in my village. These interactions helped in cultural understanding for both myself and my guests.
I believe this kind of experience aligns deeply with Chevening's values. It showcases my ability to influence and inspire others, even in the face of challenges and obstacles. A Chevening Scholarship would allow me to build a good foundation, leveraging my technological skills, soft skills and my passion for language to create a positive change in our community.
