Dear Admissions Committee,
My name is Karina Khairullina and I am 24 years old. I am living in the capital of Republic of Tatarstan - Kazan. My native language is tatar, but since Tatarstan is based in Russia, I am also fluent in Russian and have intermediate B2 level of English. I am writing to express my strong desire to be considered for the GKS.
Since my school days, I have tried to save money and never asked my parents for extra money. It was thanks to their financial support that I learnt to dance, swim and won prizes at regional competitions during my school years. Therefore, when I successfully finished school, I firmly decided that I would definitely enter a university on a budget. I successfully passed my exams and in 2018 I entered Kazan State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering on the faculty of production and application of building materials, products and structures. In the first year of study, I took an active part in the events held at our university. I was a member of a dance group and performed in a team. In parallel with training I did not forget to fulfil my duties as a student. I fulfilled all projects, coursework and control works in due time.
I knew that our university had a dual degree program which I could apply for only in my second year. In order not to lose this opportunity, from the second year I enrolled at the University of East London in Civil Engineering. On the same program I also took courses to improve my English. For the next three years I listened to lectures and took exams in Russian and English. This allowed me to go even deeper into my field and learn the peculiarities of studying in foreign universities. Beginning in the winter of 2020, I actively participated in the economic, contractual, and research activities of the Department of Technology of building materials, components and structures. The main direction of research work - Wood-polymer composites based on polyvinyl chloride with dispersed and nano fillers. Also, I participated in conferences and contests; writing publications in the collections of scientific papers. I wrote my diploma work named 'Development of modified WPC-PVC' in two languages - Russian and English.
After graduating I got a job in a laboratory at a construction organization, «GLAFstroy» LLC. My main duties were to test construction materials and issue passports. Two years later, I tried my hand at the profession of an engineer in the construction organization «StroyBrand» LLC. Here I learnt all the peculiarities of executive documentation and familiarized myself with the process of commissioning. Thanks to this experience I learnt how to quickly and confidently join any work process. Diligence, diligence and ability to find a solution in difficult situations are always with me. I take responsibility for my work and always fulfil my tasks quickly and accurately.
One of the biggest challenges I faced in life was when at the first time I worked and lived out of the city in construction area. I was almost the only girl surrounded by workers who drink almost every day. I was scared and started thinking to quit this job. But there was more experienced coworker who helped me to understand that this kind of difficult situations happens almost in every job and staying with positive emotions and being kind with team is the key to get through it.
In the autumn of 2020, I started to think about studying abroad, and since I had been attracted to Korean culture since high school, I started to look for information about studying at Korean universities. That's when I found out about the GKS program, and in order not to waste time starting in 2020, I started to study the language on my own, and from January to October 2021 I studied at SAN Korean Language School, where I mastered level 1-2. From September 2023 to August 2024, I took language courses at Seoul Women's University. During the course of my studies, I diligently completed all the assignments given by the professors and handed them in on time, and successfully passed the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gyp exams. This experience allowed me to further deepen my understanding of Korean culture and convinced me of my intention to attend a Korean university.
I am confident that the GKS will help me to become more qualified in my field. I am ready to work hard and responsibly, and to report back to you on the results of the support I have received. In the future, I would like to gain work experience in Korea, participate in innovative developments and contribute to the development of the engineering industry.
I am convinced that in a Korean university I will get all the necessary knowledge and be able to realise myself. I believe that my passion for science and my desire for professional development make me a worthy candidate for your support.
I will be glad to receive a positive answer.
With best wishes,
Karina Khairullina.
