Hello, I'm currently applying for the Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Scholarship and would really appreciate some feedback on my personal statement.
Since the maximum length is only 1,500 characters, my essay may seem a bit short. Thank you in advance! 😊
Before studying Korean, I often accepted the belief that success or failure was dictated by fate. However, through the ups and downs of my Korean learning journey, I discovered a profound truth: our future is not fixed. Just as the palm is said to carry lines of life and destiny, I came to believe that those lines can be redrawn through steady effort. This Future-ready mindset has since become the compass in my life and academic studies.
With that mindset, I set a clear goal of earning a 2026 Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Global Scholarship after discovering it in 2025. In my first semester, I earned only a GPA of 3.24 out of 4 while struggling with the new university environment. Rather than accepting this as a limitation, I developed a structured improvement plan. I strengthened my daily study routine, managed my time more strategically, and reviewed course materials with greater consistency. As a result, I raised my most recent semester GPA to 3.78.
This mindset also pushes me to become a 'builder of cultural bridges'. As the founder of The KORI Project since 2021, I have led and coordinated initiatives that introduce Korean culture to students nationwide, reaching over 21,000 followers on social media. This leadership experience, coupled with my role as an Honorary Reporter for Korea.net, defined my career goal: to become a professional interpreter who delivers not only accurate meaning, but also understanding that helps people truly connect.
With unwavering dedication to my major, I am committed to realizing this dream. I firmly believe the CMK Scholarship program is the precious opportunity and a strong launchpad for me to refine my skills, expand my public contribution, and create sustainable value for the enduring friendship between Vietnam and Korea.
