STATEMENT OF OBJECTIVES
OFOSU ROBERT AGYARE
I have always enjoyed and been strong in areas that require logical and analytical thought. My interest in science dates back to my years in high school, where I excelled in physics, chemistry, and math. I was much more interested in electricity and signal flow and that motivated me to pursue a career in electrical engineering at the undergraduate level. When I began my undergraduate career, I had the opportunity to be exposed to the full range of engineering courses, all of which tended to reinforce and solidify my intense interest in engineering. I have also had the opportunity to study a number of subjects in the humanities and they have been both enjoyable and enlightening, providing me with a new and different perspective on the world in which we live.
In the realm of engineering, I have developed a special interest in the field of control and automation and even did my undergraduate project work on industrial automation entitled "Developing a Human Machine Interface for Industrial Automated System using Siemens Simatic Wincc Flexible Advanced Software", as a case study for Accra brewery limited where some of their plants were automated without any human and machine interaction.
My career ambition is to share my knowledge in the classroom on a college level or solve industrial related problems through intensive research and development. Currently, am a teaching assistant at the electrical and electronic engineering department at the university of mines and technology, Tarkwa, where I have been helping students in their course work, assisting lecturers in their research work and laboratory experiment in robotic and process control to enhance my theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of electrical and electronic engineering.
I have started researching into an efficient and reliable cable tension control for electrical cable manufacturing industries in Ghana that are currently facing this great challenge of cable tension control.
In my quest to remain in academia and research, my plans are to enroll into graduate school for my master of science in engineering. After which I intend to start work on my Ph.D. in electrical
engineering.
I am highly aware of the superb reputation of your school, your good relationship with international students and my conversations with some of your students and alumni have served to deepen my interest in attending your school and to learn your interesting culture. I know that in addition to your excellent faculty, your computer facilities are among the best. I hope you will give me the privilege of continuing my studies at your fine institution.
