Prompt: Evaluate a significant experience, achievement, risk you have taken, or ethical dilemma you have faced and its impact on you.

Life is a cup of mysterious coffee. It's full of the tastes of sour, sweet, bitter, and spicy. Life is a rainbow. Its colors create happiness, anger, sadness, and joy. Life is a painting brush, which depicts life as a picture with unforgettable pieces.

The first time I felt I was on the edge of despair was when I fully understood the word "betrayal". On my 11th birthday, the worst thing happened, and it brought me to the darkness. I received the worse birthday gift from my best friend, who I trusted the most. I was suffering in the bitter end of betrayal.

Since childhood, everyone said that I was a vivacious, lovable, and smart girl. I value love, friendship, and family. Everything seemed perfect to me until she appeared. Her appearance destroyed everything. She utilized my friendship to destroy me. She approached me, and became my best friend. However, this friendship was only momentary. She set me up with her plan. She slanders that I was cheating on the Finals. Until that moment, I never thought that would be the one to slander me, so I asked for her trust. She smiled and said, "I can prove that she cheated. She has told me that she cheated on most of the tests."

Her word was just like a keen knife that ripped my heart apart. The power of betrayal pushed me to the edge of despair. Tears shed incessantly on my face and heart. I lost everything I had. That night, my mom came into my room with a cup of coffee, she said, "Drink it." The coffee was hot and filled with bitterness. However, there was a slight sweetness (sweet authentically) and it slowly refreshing the bitterness. While I was thinking, my mom spoke, "What do you taste?" I answered, "The sweetness that comes after refreshes the bitterness of the coffee, so..." My mom interrupted, "In fact, life is like coffee, sweet followed bitter. Now your life might be in the period that is filling up with bitterness but sweetness will come to you soon. The current bitter is the start of the sweetness in the future." My mom encouraged me to go to school with hopes. Mom's words reverberated in my ears many times.

My mom's words are true. Sweetness comes after, and it refreshes the bitterness. My teachers believed that I didn't cheat, and someone told them the truth. I realized that love, friendship, and family have never left me. I even received more than what I thought I have. I believe that life is a cup of coffee. Bitterness won't stay with anyone too long. In fact, sometimes suffering in bitter can be pleasurable. In addition, bitterness is necessary in life. It is the base of success in the future. I strongly believe that bitterness is only the cover of sweetness. I believe that this perception will help me be more confident as I face hardships in the future.
