Hello everyone, I'm writing an essay to apply for a scholarship in Msc Marketing, the question is below. I am very happy to receive advice and constructive feedback from you. Thank you so much and have a great day!

Please explain your motivation for applying for the scholarship, and also mention the personal qualities that you think make you an outstanding applicant for the scholarship (in approximately 300 words).

My motivation to apply for Paul Simons Scholarship extends beyond the financial support purpose. Undoubtedly, the scholarship will ease the financial burden of studying abroad, but more importantly, being awarded this scholarship would represent an acknowledgment of my capabilities and the consistent dedication I have invested throughout my academic and professional journey. This recognition would become a strong source of motivation as well as responsibility for me during my time studying at Lancaster, encourage me to continuously challenge myself, maintain academic excellence, and actively contribute to the learning community.
One quality that distinguishes me from other applicants and aligns strongly with the scholarship's value is my clear and well-defined career direction. Upon returning to Vietnam, I intend to develop my career path in the F&B or FMCG industries, sectors characterised by rapid change and strong consumer dynamics that align closely with my personal interests but also very competitive. This clarity shapes my attitude toward learning. I do not pursue the MSc merely as an exploration, but as an important stage to build my intended career path. Every academic choice I make is guided by a clear determination of how the knowledge will be applied in real industry contexts.
Another quality that makes me a strong candidate for the scholarship is my proactive approach in learning. Rather than relying solely on formal instruction, I prefer the learning approach encouraging self-studying beyond the classroom through independent reading, reviewing and reflection on real-world experiences. I believe this attitude will allow me to maximise the academic resources at Lancaster and quickly adapt to the self-reflective academic culture in the UK. With the purpose-driven mindset and activeness in learning, I am confident that the scholarship will be used with focus, discipline, and long-term impact rather than treated as a short-term achievement.

You have written a scholarship essay that is heavily AI assisted. While it makes your application look polished and it sounds highly educated and academic in presentation, it lacks the human factor in the writing. You fed the AI the information, but the AI created your application without the heart of emotional connection that is required for this sort of application essay. It comes across as cold and calculated, Several writing points are clearly AI generated, which will reduce the possibility of your winning this scholarship. The reviewers are looking for an emotional connection with the writing, which is something AI writing cannot provide. That is why AI generated applications, though strongly written, are easily spotted and set aside by the reviewers. They are not interested in reading AI generated content.

Thank you so much for your feedback, I was struggling with my original draft and felt terrible about how my grammar was. I'll rewrite it with my own words

Hello, I have adjusted the essay but I still find it difficult to enhance the persuasiveness. Here is the new draft and I'm really grateful to your contribution. Thank you!

My motivation to apply for the Paul Simons Scholarship goes beyond financial support. It is undeniable that the scholarship will lower the financial burden of studying abroad on my family, but more than that, I view this scholarship as one of the milestones in my academic journey. Being awarded this scholarship means that my consistent effort in academic as well as professional journey are acknowledged. This recognition would become an enormous motivation to encourage me to stay believe in myself, keep paying effort and actively contributing to the academic environment at Lancaster University.

The first quality that highly aligns to the scholarship eligibility I want to mention is my clear-defined objective in branding area. As I mentioned in my CV, upon returning to Vietnam, I intend to continue my career path in the F&B rapid changing sector that match my personal interest. More specific, within the time of 5 years, I have set myself an objective to become a brand manager. This desire has shaped my attitude toward the time studying at Lancaster, not merely for exploration but as an "purposeful investment" to set me apart from other applicants.

Another quality representing my dedication and commitment toward the MSc course is my personal learning approach. Rather than relying solely on formal instruction, I follow the approach which encourages self-studying through independent reading, regular reviewing and reflecting on real problems. I have been adopting this method since my freshman year and it was proven to be effective through my academic performance. Finally, with the clear division and active learning approach, I can ensure that should the scholarship be awarded to me, it will be used with focus, discipline and create long-term impact rather than just a short-term financial support. Thank you for considering!
