"Trying new things" - Language study plan before and after Gks

I have always enjoyed trying new things, and learning a new language was one of them. At first, I wasn't sure which language to focus on. But when I discovered the Korean language, something just clicked. I found myself drawn to its structure, the way it's written, the way it sounds-and I was surprised by how naturally I could grasp the basics. Compared to other languages I explored, Korean felt more open and accessible to me. That connection made me decide to take it seriously.

I began studying Korean not just out of curiosity, but because I saw it as a doorway to a new culture and an opportunity I genuinely connected with. Since English is the primary language spoken in my country, my exposure to Korean in daily life has been limited. However, I am committed to improving significantly during the one-year language program offered by my chosen university attending the required classes and dedicating 2-3 hour daily to practice listening, reading and trying to form my own sentences.

In addition, I will continue using online resources like Talk To Me In Korean and YouTube to strengthen my skills. To deepen my understanding, I intend to join a language study group, which I believe is one of the most effective methods for practicing and learning the language.

And I will ensure to participate in cultural activities available during my study in Korea to help me immerse myself in the language and culture. I understand that learning a new language can be challenging, but I am excited to take it on with dedication and enthusiasm. I believe that with consistent effort, I can achieve my goal of thriving in Korea.

This is not an effective language study plan. It does not show that you have been making long term plans to study in Korea by preparing early on in your studies. You should be referencing tutorial center attendance, online chat groups, and preparations to take the TOPIK prior to your arrival in Korea. Serious prepation for language proficiency should be seen as this will indicate the possible level of your Hangul proficiency upon arrival.

Your post arrival studies should be more defined than what you have at the moment. How do you plan to excel in the mandatory language classes? What is your target TOPIK score? What sort of language building activities do you hope to participate in?

The essay needs more specifics. This is more of a generic overview so it does not really provide useful information to the reviewer. Using this statement as is will weaken your chances for the scholarship consideration.

Language study plan before and after Gks

Growing up around different languages really sparked my interest in them. Even though I learned mostly in English at school, I was always curious about how language brings people together. My love for Korean kicked off after I watched some Korean movies and documentaries. They not only showed me how the language sounds but also gave me a peek into its unique expressions. Since that moment, I've been working hard to understand Korean better.

I started my learning journey with a site called Talk To Me In Korean (TTMIK). They have great lessons and audio for beginners. On top of that, I used this app called LingQ, which is awesome for diving into Korean stories while hearing how natives pronounce the words. I even kept a language journal to practice my sentence-making and go over grammar. Right now, I'm really focusing on improving my listening skills, reading a bit, and figuring out how to put sentences together. When I get to South Korea, I'm really looking forward to diving into that year-long Korean language course at the university. I want to chat with my classmates, get involved in group projects, and just soak up as much Korean as I can. And outside the classroom, I'll probably volunteer with community groups or join language exchange clubs to practice speaking in real-life situations.

I also plan to check out some YouTube channels like Korean Unnie and GoBillyKorean for fun and helpful language lessons. And subscribing to beginner Korean news podcasts could help me learn new words while keeping up with what's going on in Korea. For reading, I think starting with webtoons and light novels aimed at teens is a good idea since they use everyday language in a fun way.

I'm aiming for at least TOPIK level 4 before jumping into my undergrad classes. To get there, I'll set up a study routine: grammar and vocab in the mornings, listening and speaking in the afternoons, and reading at night. Each week, I'll check my progress with some mock tests and self-assessments. Even once I hit that level, I still want to keep studying Korean as an elective and maybe do some creative writing or storytelling in Korean to get even better.

For me, learning a language isn't just about grades; it's a way to really connect with a culture. I'm all in on becoming confident in Korean, and I think this plan's got me on the right track.
