The American University in Cairo has always been my first priority when considering universities in Egypt and abroad. AUC is the region's first American English-language university and being raised and educated by the American system throughout my entire life, I know continuing in this path will help me develop as I go on with my studies. I have always felt that during my university years, AUC's diverse curriculums, cultures, and historical presence will lead me to find my passion in life and help me become the person I hope to be someday. I know that studying at AUC is based on understanding and not memorizing. It is based on developing the student mind. Integrated Marketing Communication has always been my passion. It makes my mind open up to new ideas and feeds my creativity and imagination, and it will be the roots to any work after I graduate. Economics and Psychology are what I want to minor in. I feel that they will give me an understanding of the world we live in today. Economics, for me, is one of the little things that interests me. Studying the needs and wants of a community will always grab my attention. Psychology fascinates me. The study of humans' feelings, mind, and emotions, for me, is one of the greatest things in life. I know that studying these three interests of mine at AUC will give me a complete understanding of the subjects and will make me a top candidate at any organization. During the years to come while studying at a university, I want my thinking to grow. I want to be different and I want to stand out. I know that AUC is the right choice for me, not just because it is a prestigious university but also because it makes its students leaders. Over the years I have seen the great minds and pioneers that can proudly call themselves AUCians. I hope that one day I will have the opportunity to stand tall and know that my success has a base, the American University in Cairo.

A tip that I read recently on writing admissions essays is to replace the school you're trying to get into with the name of another school. Why is AUC the right place for you to study marketing, economics, and psychology? How exactly is it different from other schools? For example, when you mentioned "the great minds and pioneers," who exactly are you referring too? What exactly attracts you to AUC? Try to answer these questions in your essay, and I'm sure that it'll become much more effective as an admissions essay.

Lujainne I am not sure what the prompt you are responding to is at the moment so I cannot really comment on the statement that you wrote. What I can tell you though is that it has a very generic feel to it because you are stating obvious reasons for your choice instead of comparative based decisions regarding your academic needs. What makes AUC stand out when compared to other universities aside from the American based education you will receive without having to leave your mother country? All of the subjects that you enumerate does nothing to tell me why you would choose this university over others. Why you would stand out as a student at UAC comes from something definitive about what you want to learn and how the university teaches it. At the moment this is just an essay that can apply to any university of your choice.
