Babson College Supplement: Write a letter to your first year roommate describing to him/her what it would be like to live with you, why you chose Babson, and what you are looking forward to most in college.
Dear Roommate,
Congratulations! You made it. It's real! I'm sure you're as thrilled as I am to finally being able to spread your wings at the prestigious Babson College. Let me start off by telling you a little bit about myself. My name is X. I was born in India, but raised in the multi-cultural city of Singapore. I graduated from the Singapore American School in 2010, after which, I served in the Singapore Armed Forces for two years. As a result of my upbringing and personal experiences, I'm fortunate to have learned about and thus respectful towards different cultures. Consequently, I'm mature, responsible, and disciplined in my attitude towards life.
If there were one word that describes me best, it would be passionate. I'm passionate in anything I seek to achieve. Passion leads to success. Therefore, I made the right choice in choosing Babson College. I have the passion to succeed entrepreneurially and Babson is committed to helping students like me to reach our goals. Their highly specialized entrepreneurial program, distinctive teaching strategies, and compact campus environment provide the perfect platform for me to pursue what I love.
As a roommate, I hope to be everything you ask for. Although I can debate for hours on topics such as philosophy and spirituality, I promise I'm not boring. My intuition aids me into reaching out to others. I get great pleasure from lending a helping hand and making myself approachable. On a sprightlier note, I'm a soccer fanatic. From watching Manchester United play, to representing school, to FIFA being the only video game I play, I also pride myself in knowing more about the sport than just the rules. I thoroughly enjoy analyzing all genres of film as well. The basis of a good film is its script and direction hence I follow filmmakers such as Christopher Nolan, Zack Snyder, and Quentin Tarantino. When it comes to music, I relax to deep-house or "chill-out" sessions...or I could just keep my headphones on. I'm fond of traveling too. As an admirer of history and the arts, Europe and South East Asia consist of some of my favorite destinations.
I cannot wait to begin at Babson. Finally I'll be in an environment where I can thrive. Forming close relationships and sharing the best of memories with friends and faculty is particularly exciting for me. Babson is the ideal place to meet with motivated, like-minded people whether it is to discuss business ventures or share new experiences. Hopefully, you share some of my interests. I look forward to meeting and hearing all about you. Let us embark on the next best four years of our lives!
