(250-650 words)

Before entering the University of St. Gallen (HSG), Switzerland, I have not thought a lot about my future career plans. I was born in China and moved to Switzerland at the age of nine. Starting to learn a completely new language (German) and adapting myself to a new environment was a great challenge for me. When I finished my high school education at Alte Kantonsschule in Aarau, Switzerland, a school renowned for its alumni Dr. Albert Einstein, I received a distinguished academic award for my school performance. At the time I started my undergraduate studies at the HSG, I was proud of what I have reached in my life with a bi-cultural background so far. However, being in an international climate at the HSG, I suddenly felt very small. Every friend whom I was lucky to meet had an exciting story, and I realized that I was not the only one who has a unique background.

The first year at the HSG was hard, but yet it opened my eyes. The courses which I have taken triggered my anxiety but also hunger for more knowledge. It is clear that I am very lucky to have had more bi-cultural experiences than others in my life, but I do not want to rest at this point. University of Pennsylvania has a breadth of opportunities in Business and Economics that fits my current curriculum and career goals. By attending UPenn, I plan to continue to broaden and deepen my knowledge base within a different university system. Nowadays it is very important to gain various international experiences. Globalization has been making the world smaller, and getting to know other parts of the world becomes more crucial than ever.

When I visited UPenn this winter, I was impressed by how culturally diverse it is. I loved meeting different personalities from all over the world. Traveling and making friends from an international network are things that I always love to do. Within the well-known UPenn academic and its social life, I believe that I will meet lots of talented and incredible people. Moreover, the campus, in the middle of urban Philadelphia, attracted me with its beauty and history.

As my transcripts show, I have done well at the HSG, and I am convinced that I can meet the academic level of UPenn after carefully reviewing its curriculum descriptions. I am confident that I would grow more at UPenn, and the program in Business and Economics perfectly matches my interests and professional goals.

Your answer to this prompt is condensed here. I think you need to elaborate more on this. Why you want this transfer?
