Prompt 1: Union College

A liberal arts education at Union College includes: interdisciplinary study, faculty-guided student research, and leadership opportunities in Minerva Houses. Please choose one of these areas and explain in no more than 150 words why Union's approach works well for you.

Response 1 1500 Character/ 150 Word Limit

It is often said that there are leaders and followers. I would argue that there are some who never get the chance to lead despite their earnest efforts. I consider myself a member of the latter group. In the past I have ended up in places with an established pecking order, and when you are new in a place as I was you always end up at the bottom with many people to clamber over. I am sure that the leaders in Union's Minerva Houses will be extremely welcoming to incoming students. Because the Minervas are run by the members, this presents a unique opportunity for me to attain a leadership position. While trying to gain a leadership position at whichever Minerva I am assigned I will form trust-filled friendships both with upperclassmen and my fellow freshmen.

Prompt 2: Centre College

Why is Centre a good fit for you?

Response 2 500 Character Limit

Doctrina lux mentis. Learning is the light of the mind. I as a student have always loved learning, and know that it is the key to success in today's world. The learning environment at Centre is one of the best in the nation. The programs offered at Centre would present worlds of opportunity for me, and would allow me to actualize my potential in whichever field I choose to immerse myself. Centre is the best place for me to become the person that I want to be.

I'll be back in an hour or so with another essay. Thanks for the help in advance!

That Union approach wasn't just the right approach. Do some researches for uniƶn and centre. I am also applying to Union, could we be friends?

Can you offer some actual edits though. What do you mean it wasn't the right approach? I did research both Union and Centre, which is why I know things like the motto of Centre, or how the Minerva houses at Union work. I don't think I know you, but if we both end up at Union we could become friends, I see no reason why we couldn't.

Okay i ve read your union and it made great sense. But not your centre. It made you look like a rigid academian. It's your essay be free. Talk about other features of the school. Show them your intrinsic qualities. Match theirs and yours together. Nice job for Union. I am sure you will get in.

I as a student have always loved learning, and know that it is the key to success in today's world- remove the comma.

The learning environment at Centre is one of the best in the nation. - change the best in the nation part to how the learning environment is perfect for you.

The programs offered at Centre would present me with worlds of opportunity. Centre would allow me to actualize my potential in whichever field I choose and participate in ... (name something about the college that only Centre has) maybe a class, a club.

The ending is perfect just add more detailed information about the school. It is possible to give detail and stick withing the 500 characters so work towards that. Also if you want to save space then cut the first sentence and leave only the english version then you can go into detail about other aspects of Centre.

It is often said that there are leaders and there are followers, but I would argue that there are some who never get the chance to lead despite their earnest efforts.

In the past, I have ended up in places with an previously established pecking order, and because I was new, I always ended up at the bottom with many people to clamber over.

I am sure that the leaders in Union's Minerva Houses will be extremely welcoming to incoming students. - cut this sentence it adds nothing to the essay.

Because the Minerva Houses are run by the residence's members, I will finally have the opportunity to attain a leadership position.

While trying to gain a leadership position within my assigned Minerva house, I will form trust-filled friendships with bith upperclassmen and my fellow freshmen.

Add a little more about the Minerva houses. Are there house traditions? Talk about what your would do if you are the leader of your Minerva house etc.

Please read my Wellesley essay.

Here is the way to trim the excess and begin with an excellent sentence:
It is often said that there are leaders and followers. I would argue that there are some who never get the chance to lead despite their earnest efforts. I consider myself a member of the latter group. In the past I have ended up in places with an established pecking order, and when you are new in a place as I was you always end up at the bottom with many people to clamber over. ---This sentence I left in the essay is a GREAT sentence to start with.

The sentences I cut actually reveal a misconception about leadership science. Regardless of the established hierarchy, you can apply the principles of scientific leadership wherever you go. And being a good follower is what an experienced leader does when someone else is taking the lead. So... good leadership and followership come from the same understanding, and that understanding can make you able to act like a leader no matter what your rank is among others.

I as a student have always loved learning,---here, I don't like the ambiguity. You should focus not on a general love of learning but instead on some of your specific interests. You don't have to commit to anything, but express specific interests and search for some common theme among them, a theme that defines you.

:-)
