essay question: tell us about a book that you have read and found especially challenging,stimulating,or provocative. please explain
My first association with Stephen King's work is not through reading, but through the 1994 film Shawshank Redemption. Ii saw the movie when I was thirteen. The movie is about a rich banker named Andy mischarged for murdered and is jailed for his entire life. He manages to improve prisoners' living and cultural environment while helping the warden to launder money. He spent twenty years digging a hole with a tiny hammer to escape. Twenty years is a long time, and living in prison for twenty years requires excellent social skills. Compared to Andy's personality, I am neither persistent nor socially sophisticated. I read the book years this summer; it gives me more insightful comprehension about Andy's life. Andy impresses me with his determination and intelligence. Whatever he does his purpose is to help innocents and to escape. Meanwhile he maintains perfect relationship with everybody in the prison. He believes that whenever you fall you can always restart a new life. Shawshank Redemption has an undeniable influence on me. After reading the book I gradually develop greater sense of desire and persistency. I learn from the book that a person's independence, persistency, and all other special characteristics are coming from one's desire for his or her goal. Andy's goal is freedom, and my goal is to become a great mechanical engineer, in which a dream that I set for myself as early childhood. Now each time I meet a hurdle in school or in social relationship, I would somehow think of Andy and how he overcomes his failure in past and reestablish a better future. He teaches me an important lesson that if one wanted to succeed, one must learn how to accept failure and to overcome it.
Andy sets a perfect model for me as a man who never gives up. I am a fairly introverted kid, but have become better talking with never talked to strangers and even new classmates. Socially, I used study alone rather than working together with classmates or teachers. Academically, I show great ability in completing school work with good quality. Now I try to be persistently working on everything.
This essay has been revised by my college counsellor. I want to add a new paragraph explaining the change this book bring to me but my counsellor says no.

I think you can write a powerful paragraph if you refer to the truth that the King expresses in the book, and explain how you can embody that truth with your process as a mechanical engineer.
