When I was college hunting, I put my eyes out for liberal arts colleges. As a young girl, I have a lot of dreams and aspirations. I have a lot of ideas of what I want to be, but not the slightest of what I would love to settle down with. While I was still searching, I stumbled upon two reviews of Knox "Knox opens doors; doors to inner exploration, opportunities, and a successful future. You have the freedom of choice within a supportive community, empowering you to take charge of your own educational path and cultivate your potential to change the world." "At Knox, it's about challenging yourself, your peers, and the faculty to impact the world. We provide a true global experience in a great community where each voice matters. We will invest in you, supporting your perspective, your development, and your dreams. Welcome to the land of endless opportunities. Are you Knox?" I am interested in a college that is interested in my aspirations and goals and would go through lengths to support me; a college that provides not only academic training, but also moral and social training, thereby producing the total student. After doing some more investigation, I realized Knox would be perfect for me because I would love to go to a college that is as interested in me as I am in it.
Okay, it was a bad idea to simply cut and paste the mission, vision, and objectives of the university as taken from their website. Your essay should reflect a kinship between yourself and the university. This is seen in the way that you explain how you share their mission and vision by sharing who you are as a person. Make sure to highlight the traits that you have which the admissions officer may find interesting as it is a close personification of the information you took from their website. Remember, you are not supposed to tell the admissions officer information they already know about their university, you are supposed to tell them about what interested you in seeking admission to their university, be it academic or their student community, be creative and unique. Don't give them a standard template essay as you have now.
