After reading My Life as a Quant by Emanual Derman which describes his years at Goldman

Sachs, I confirmed my choice to study Financial Engineering. I am a good mathematician and

using mathematical tools to solve problems in finance is of great utility to me. Furthermore,

financial engineering is a new study that most Chinese universities do not offer. With rapid

development in financial market, China is in great need of people who specialize in using quant

methods to solve financial problems. As a Columbia graduate, I will definitely become a leader

in Financial Engineering in China.

I thought Columbia's deadline was January 2nd.

Are you sure you study financial engineering at The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science instead of Columbia's business school?

You didn't really answer the prompt. The prompt asks, why do you want to study engineering. Okay you are a good mathematician. Why not study math then?

Also you spelled the professor's name wrong, it's Emanuel Derman.
