The mood is set for our ploy: My best friend and I approach the school entrance in the morning fog. Holding for the perfect moment, we spring into action. Student's heads swivel towards me as I lift my hundred-pound friend into the air, while he mimics a climbing helicopter and yells "SWAH!" at the top of his lungs. Some of the students around us are ceased by a fit of laughter while others simply shake their heads and wonder "what those crazy freshmen are doing." Jeffrey and I quickly escape, laughing as we run back to the parking lot.
"SWAH" became something of a motto for my friends. Pulling stunts like this at school made everyone think we were strange; at the same time, it often caused quite a few chuckles and left me with a huge grin on my face. The pleasure of making someone genuinely laugh is like none other, and doing it while making a fool of one self is a feat to admire. This is what I love about being with my friends; we don't aim to hurt anyone's feelings or put people down. No, we simply aim to make fools out of ourselves.
Students think of us as those crazy guys who always make everyone laugh, and that's OK with me. I try not to take things too seriously, and an occasional chuckle seems to lighten up someone's day. Without my good friends in the group of Swah, I would never have come to value enduring joy of a laugh. In the end, with the stress of all the classes we take and the clubs in which we participate, a laugh always helps me to put it in perspective; while life weighs heavy responsibilities on us, we have to take time to kick back and enjoy its simple pleasures
