Managing inventory and coordinating logistics for my school's charity bazaar first sparked my interest in digital supply chain. Planning and distributing resources efficiently taught me how operational decisions affect outcomes and resource utilization. This experience shaped my desire to pursue supply chain management as a way to create practical impact beyond financial results by improving efficiency and reducing environmental impact.
To deepen my understanding, I completed a self-initiated course in Supply Chain Management and Capacity Planning on Alison. This course introduced me to the intricate processes behind everyday products and show how coordinated operations help systems run smoothly. Learning about concepts like lean manufacturing and waste reduction strengthened my ambition to design supply chains that are both efficient and sustainable.
My A-level courses provided a strong foundation for digital supply chain management. Mathematics sharpened my ability to analyse data and identify trends for decision-making. Physics deepened my understanding of systems and efficiency, while Chemistry developed my attention to detail and process-oriented thinking. Together, these subjects prepared me to approach supply chain challenges in a structured and data-driven manner.
Beyond academics, my extracurricular activities reinforced relevant skills. Solving Sudoku puzzles enhanced my pattern recognition and logical reasoning, directly applicable to supply chain analysis where data-driven decision-making is critical. In addition, playing basketball developed my teamwork, planning and strategic thinking in a fast-paced situation. Participating in the student-teacher programme further strengthened my leadership and communication skills, which are essential when working with multiple supply chain stakeholders. Lastly, my experience in an entrepreneurial coaching programme enhanced my creativity and problem-solving skills from a business perspective.
I chose to study Digital Supply Chain in Singapore Institute of Technology because of its strong focus on applied learning and collaboration with industry partners. SIT's mission matches my learning preferences, as I value applying theory to real-world challenges. Upon graduation, I aspire to work in the manufacturing or shipping sectors, leveraging data analytics to improve efficiency and decision-making, and ultimately contribute to seamless and sustainable international trade.
