Backgrounds and reasoning for choosing FIT

This quote is my whole perspective of fashion. Fashion exists at every corner in every country. We are always surrounded by fashion. To me it's not just about the clothes or the most fancy designer with the latest new spring collection. It's all about the way you express your personal individuality. Fashion defines you and your personality. At first, fashion was only a hobby but than it grew to become an addiction. Than this addiction later became, the main component of my life. Since I was younger, I've always dreamt about the fashion industry. At this point in my life, I realized since I love fashion so much why not devote my life to achieve my dream. I want to succeed in this business and I believe that The Fashion Institute of Technology is the best choice to help me pursue my childhood dream.
Throughout my adolescence, my life was very unstable. I faced many hardships academically, physically, and emotionally trying to figure out who I am. These struggles helped me realize that you are able to get through anything with devotion and hard work. These characteristics really benefited me throughout my life, and made me a better person. As I've matured throughout the years, I really started to focus on my future career. I started working for retail at a young age for a great company called TJ MAXX. Working there really helped me get a quick look at Fashion Merchandising, which pointed me in that business direction.
During my freshman year of high school, I decided to get involved with the fashion club and FCCLA. In the fashion club, we would all put together a great fashion show including all the new trends evolving during that time. Since trends change so rapidly, we would have to put together a fashion show quickly, and prepare all the models and clothes in a matter of short weeks. This influenced me in many ways by being behind the scenes and putting together a fashion show, which gave me the sense of being a Fashion Show Producer. This experience helped bring out my leadership skills. I've always liked to be in charge my whole life but actually applying it to an important event made me suitable for a business environment. FCCLA also taught me how to give back to the less fortunate. I'd done a lot of community service and helped those in need by this club and also developed leadership skills with certain projects and activities we completed.
My most remarkable experience, which established that this was the right career path for me was my first precollege class at the Fashion Institute of Technology. After my hands on experience of what my life would be like if I attended this college, made my decision perfectly clear. To be surrounded by students with the same drive and ambition as mine would be motivational. I would be honored to learn from such outstanding leaders who can advise me on how to survive and advance in this competitive field. I've always had a strong passion for this Industry and it will never fade away, just grow stronger. Most significantly, This program gave me the strength and determination to never give up on my dream, which boosted up my confidence.
At this moment, I am a confident and competitive individual who would proceed to do great things and have a very successful college career at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Even thought I've faced challenges throughout my life, these troubles have made me very unique in many ways. If i could I wouldn't change any of the choices i've made in my life, because it pointed me in the direction towards fashion. I have always been interested in developing different looks and trends. My creativity and leadership skills meet the requirements of Merchandising management. I sincerely know that this is the perfect career for me. Life is about knowing the right choices to make, and I know the Fashion Institute of Technology is the perfect choice for me.
Working in the fashion industry is a dream of mine and with your help I can reach my dream. Attending your school would be an opportunity of a lifetime. If I were accepted, it would change my entire life and inspire me. I've always found a way to succeed, and with my motivation I would never give up. Fashion is my life and my passion, and it would be a pleasure to spend my life doing something that I love.

I love fashion too so I enjoyed editing this, make sure that your essay flows a bit better though. Also maybe include the Yves Saint Laurent quote somewhere else in the essay? like: then this addiction became my way of life or something like that. good luck with FIT!
