Here is my essay, what do you guys/girls think? Any advice?
Out of all of the qualities that Florida State University yearns, leadership stands out to me the most. You may be asking, "Why leadership? Why do you think leadership is so important?" Well, leadership has an extensive amount of aspects that range from decision making to just changing the world. All of our presidents, despite our opinions of them and their actions, were leaders. They brought forth change, for good or for worse. They brought us through thick and thin, they brought us through the good and the bad times. Because of their qualities as leaders, our country, the United States of America, has strived to be a country with immense opportunities. However, one doesn't have to be the President of the United States to be a leader; one can the captain of a team, the organizer of a fundraiser, or even the teacher at the front of a classroom. That is the elegance and its ability to tantalize me.
However, what exactly does the word "leadership" mean? On a simple scale, leadership is the ability to influence others to make every effort to accomplish and achieve a unified goal. However, a great leader is never fully developed; a great leader is always finding ways to improve his or herself through an immeasurable process of self-study, education, training, and most importantly, experience. Experience is a key essential to becoming an effective leader. There is a multitude of accredited perspectives that do not come naturally, but are acquired through unremitting work and study. As stated, leadership provides an inspirational and influential figure to help guide a group of people towards great accomplishments. With this in mind, a strong effective leader provides foundations for ideas and excellence. A strong leader provides us with the knowledge to help us think for ourselves and gives us the capability to be individuals.
Furthermore, leadership development is vital to us and our surroundings. Leadership development is imperative because schools and organizations take on the personality, or the persona, of their leaders. This quality development also advocates the maximization of productivity. Moreover, leadership development aids in shaping a positive culture and environment.
To culminate my thoughts, leadership stands out to me because of the fact that leaders "lead people" and they don't "follow people." Leaders are the people who don't learn "how" to do things from others, but they are the ones who discover and create new ways of executing tasks. They are the ones who provide guidance, instruction, and direction to a group of individuals. They are the ones who monitor the work ethic and the results that are desired. They will lead, they will support, and they will allot responsibility when it is appropriate. These are the types of leadership traits that stand out because these are the qualities that I look for when searching for a leader. This is the persona that I strive for when trying to be a leader amongst my peers.

Other than that, I really like your essay. You make several strong, cohesive points.
If you want to, as a suggestion, maybe include some of your leadership experience? (If you have any) - But your essay is still good without it and I think you're close to your word limit.
