Math - the subjects with which you had difficulty

As far as I can remember, Mas has always been the subject that I feared most. For reasons unknown I was terrified with every math class that I have taken since eight grade. Being that both my mother and grandmother were both math educators, it was everyone expectation that I would be successful in my math classes however: these classes were my greatest difficulties.

Last year, my school offered its first Advanced Placement class and to say the least it was a Calculus class, something that would be very beneficial to someone planning on going to further their education. My guidance counselor suggested that I enroll in the class. I hesitated but I had the entire summer to give it some thought. Despite my fears, I decided to take the class. I had to make a decision, either to let my fears take me over or I overcome my fears. I the first week of class, I was ready to give up but the words spoken my mother "A little knowledge is better than having no knowledge" seemed to ponder in my head with each thought of giving up. Immediately I started to see things differently. Instead of being fearful, I began to welcome the challenge by setting daily goals. As the semester came to an end, I didn't get a perfect grade however; I was able to conquer my fear.

This year my younger sister is taking that same class, and to my surprise I am helping her get through those difficult times. The times when I thought I didn't understand, I was truly making process. I really understand the true value "A little knowledge is better than having no knowledge." It is an awesome feeling when you are able to share knowledge.
