Describe the most challenging obstacle you've faced and what you did to overcome it. What did you learn from the experience?

I have lived a life where growing up was emotionally difficult for me. I have always been a emotional person and I always took everything people said to me seriously. I was born in Nepal, where my family could barley afford sandals to wear or afford food to eat. My parents were uneducated and did not know much. Four years, after I was born, my family and I came to the U.S. They hoped for a better life in America and they did. My family lived a life way better than they did in Nepal. I grew older, things changed dramatically.

My dad was always number one in my life, until my parents divorced. The day they got divorced, I went inside my room and cried for hours and did not come out for 2 days. I felt like the whole world has fallen upon me. When ever I went out and saw people spending quality time with their family, it would envy me because it was only the three of us here in America, which felt very lonely. I have always thought my life would be peaceful if my father was in my life. As I grew older, I discovered my dad's terrible background and the reason why my parents got divorced. I then regretted all the feelings I had for my father.

My mother has helped me overcome my emotions by telling me positive things about life. I then came to realize that crying over what happened in the past and letting it bring me down was not worth it at all. Having nine different health problems, my mother worked 3 different jobs to support my brother and I. She worked 7 days, hardly got any sleep, and struggled a lot due to her health problems. I then realized that my mother was actually a father to me also. Through all the struggles, my father was not there to support us. I always felt alone because I hardly got to see my mother. Even though I barley got to see her, she always reminded me how much she loves me. She has supported me since day one and looking at all the things she is doing for my brother and I changed me from a emotional person to a strong inspired person. She has always persuade me to do well in school and become a doctor, so I can look after her.

Watching my mother struggle and do nothing about it was definitely not an option for me anymore. I got my first job at the age of 16 and attended school and went to work right after school. Every week when I received my I paycheck, I would give it to my mother to show her I care and that she is not alone in this. I came to realize that she is not like any mother out there. She is the type of mother who would take a bullet for me. I've learned that you must love the people in your life who is worth it and matters the most, not people who are your life just because they feel like it.

"...care and that she is not alone in this."- what does "this" refer to?
"I barley"- changed to barely

Overall, it was a good essay that showed sentimental feelings and grabbed the reader in.
