Hi! I need to help writing my personal statement for nursing school. I'm lost at this point. Can you please help me?

I basically grew up around the field of nursing. My father was an emergency room nurse in a level one trauma center for many years and now works in interventional radiology. Actually he just attained a Master's degree from the University of Toledo in his early sixties. From an early age hearing gory stories at the dinner table and visiting him at work, through the present hearing about the various noninvasive procedures that now often replace much riskier procedures and can help much less healthy patients. My interest in this field has been revisited in the last few years due to my father revamping his career and showing me that opportunities in the field of nursing are much broader than I had imagined. It is fantastic to be able to have the opportunity to change things up if something gets stale or your skills outgrow your current responsibilities. Just as importantly I was finally diagnosed with narcolepsy after many, many years of frustration in school and workplace. With relatively minor treatment I could muster the attention span and the energy to undertake the rigors of maintaining the fulltime job, additional part time job, household, marriage and ambitious class schedule required to make this career change a reality.

Academically, my goal is to vigorously pursue nursing studies so that I am able to pass the NCLEX and later become board certified, and more importantly to provide my future patients with exceptional care.

I would like for my life's work to be meaningful, being able to positively impact peoples' most important assets - their lives and health as a primary care provider. This is why I am applying for the accelerated nursing program. I feel that this accelerated nursing program will also give me the broadest base from which to start my career, since I am coming from a non-nursing background and generally need more exposure to the "doing" aspects of nursing and advanced practice such as diagnosing, prescribing, performing checkups and minor procedures. I have an extensive background in research, math and statistical analysis already so I believe that some of the other tracks might be a little redundant and I do not have the experience required for the acute care track which was my other preference. I would like to spend some time in an emergency room setting and eventually end up in rural medicine.

I possess several personal attributes that increase my potential as an advanced practice nurse. First I am a positive person. This comes in quite handy during times of stress or unpleasantness which are bound to occur providing healthcare to people since not every outcome is always uplifting and the hours and efforts on the job can be great. In the face of difficult times I have always remained positive. I have always been very self-disciplined, it was necessary to get anything accomplished when the turntable of my life was operating at 33 RPM while the vinyl record of life's speed is 88 RPM due to decades or untreated narcolepsy. I only had so much time during a given day where I was hitting at all cylinders, so I often had to forgo fun in order to get my work done and had to eschew many deleterious habits which may not have overly encumbered many others. It takes great self discipline to complete a rigorous academic program, to improve every day and to provide excellent care at all times after completion, even when you have many people, things and events vying for your attention. I would likely be older than the average age of the students in this program but I've seen a fair amount of adversity and to and adapted to overcome it. I'd like to think that this has developed some wisdom that wasn't there a decade ago. I believe that this will help me to take what I learn and utilize it to care for patients. I believe that I have great empathy for my fellow humanity. Empathy is very important for people in healthcare at all levels - patients come to you with all kinds of maladies, varying in severity from annoying to critical, and the healthcare provider needs to be able to identify with and understand their patients' problems. Finally, after languishing in a narcoleptic haze for many years, I am absolutely determined to succeed and be the best FNP that I can be. It is not always convenient or easy to carry out your responsibilities or do the right thing; it takes grit and determination at times to do a great job.

I realize that I will be competing with other applicants with more experience and spotless academic records being that this is an excellent program at an excellent university. Hopefully the sum of my application materials will reflect the great improvements that I have made as a student over the years; that a considerable upside is apparent and appreciated.

From an early age hearing gory stories at the dinner table and visiting him at work, through the present hearing about the various noninvasive procedures that now often replace much riskier procedures and can help much less healthy patients. There is no subject for this sentence

Just as important I was finally diagnosed with narcolepsy after many years of frustration in school and workplace.<< shouldn't point out that you were frustrated in school

You really need to check your grammar up. Just small mistakes, but it will affect you a lot.

Oh and one more, the conclusion is kinda of sudden. You need a slope for your essay to slowly comes down from its peak.

Good luck!

Should I just erase the school part about "after many years of frustration in school and workplace?" Should I erase the last part of the paragraph? Thanks!!
