People who expect to go abroad , have to study English for a long time . For me , however , learning English is a huge challenge that I have never met after getting into the Petroleum Program at University of Technology in Vietnam . And It has been being a great impact on my life and career in the future .
When I first came to the university , I thought It would be easier to follow because I am proud of having basic knowledge. In fact , I recognized that all subjects were taught in English . At that moment , I worried about myself because I knew that I studied French in high school and have never studied English before . The transition quickly changed than I thought so that I had to struggle many problems during the first year. At this time , many worst difficulties had come along with me . For instance , the following lessons were slower because of my extremely poor writing skills . I also cannot make friends at first , read books in English insufficiently and listen to teachers speaking so fast . Therefore , I always had trouble with my listening skill that I have to spend a lot of time to practice . As a result ,the barriers have remarkably affected my GPA . I was truly embarrassed and disappointed. Sometimes I wondered whether I can go through this problem and achieve my academic purpose . After thinking many times, with a zeal for my major , I decided to make a study plan myself .
Over the year , thanks to well disciplined , I significantly improved my English skills and I also obtained many wonderful effects . The most interest feature was communication which is a catalyst to succeed in many academic programs . I not only did assignments better, but also went to the library to read materials. Hence , my GPA has gradually been increasing from the second year to today.
Transferring to Texas Tech University is a better way in which I can meet much more new opportunities and challenges in an English environment. I will have a chance to know different cultures around the world and to be an engineer later. With the high educational level , Texas Tech University is a wonderful destination for many students, who want to have a good job in the future .
Although I have yet received any objective effect, I have a lot of experience in my life and more mature. I never regret the way I chose . I always expect to be better in the future. I do believe that Texas Tech university is a good condition to develop my potential academic success and other activities. I plan on being very active and involvement at Texas Tech university. Therefore, I hope that admission officers consider my self-direction.
