Coco Chanel once said, "In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different." It is this axiom that I, Gehna Patel, try my level best to uphold and incorporate in my daily life. The need to stand out and express myself truly manifested itself about five years ago when I finally plucked up the courage to admit to myself that I wanted to spend the rest of my life in the most aesthetic industry to ever be created- the industry of fashion. As a child, I had always been inspired by my family, my father in particular, and by the way they presented themselves. They considered personal styling to be a vital part of their life. This taught me a valuable lesson- that of there being discipline, expression and satisfaction in styling, or to be more specific, in fashion. It was when I had this epiphany that I decided to study fashion professionally.
I spent my formative years painting, dancing, travelling and reading. Every time I designed and sketched an outfit, I would find myself feeling creatively satiated. I am certain that my passion for fashion is deep rooted and an inseparable part of who I am. It is this inherent passion and creativity, coupled with my curiosity and thirst for knowledge which strengthens me to make my future career and its development my primary focus.
I was a student of Smt. Sandraben Shroff Gnyan Dham School, Vapi, India. I studied Humanities in the eleventh and twelfth grades and scored 92% (4 GPA) in my twelfth grade CBSE board examinations. Along with my academics, I was placed in first division with distinction in theory and practical, and awarded Diploma in Fine Arts by Bangiya Sangeet Kala Kendra, Kolkata, India. I also have experience working backstage at Raffles Design International Graduation Fashion Show 2015-16 in Mumbai. I am familiar with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. My drawing, sketching and visualisation skills are my strong suit. I consider myself to be a person with a keen eye for detail- a skill that certainly comes in handy in my preferred field of education. Healthy competition is a factor which motivates me. It enhances my drive. Furthermore, I am confident in my ability to think on my feet in a situation of crisis.
To be accepted to _________ will be a great honour because this esteemed institution offers its students with the best quality of education and facilities. I am looking to enhance my exposure and see myself doing precisely that in this institution. Also, I am convinced that migrating to an area that houses superior fashion brands will provide me with an extraordinary learning experience. It will enable me to develop my skills and also my personality to the fullest. The alumni and faculty of this institution are all brilliant gems and highly inspiring. I am convinced that studying at ________ is the best decision I can take for my future career. I request you to grant me the opportunity to discover myself and be trained in this respected institution. I assure you that enabling me to be a student here is a decision that you will not regret. I endeavour to give the course my fullest.
