studying in Korea will be beneficial for me

It was 2014 when I realized that have passion for helping other people, specifically when I was appointed to be a liaison officer for students from Bandung (a city in Indonesia) who joined a debate competition held in my faculty. I was accompanying them to provide their needs throughout the competition and informing the important details of the competition, this might look tiring but I found joy and had a lot of fun while doing it. This has led me to concentrate on Human Resource Management, so that I can hopefully help more people whom I will meet in my future company, specifically helping them advance in their careers by listening to and considering their concerns, motivating, rewarding, and developing them.

My friends always described me as a person with high curiosity of anything. I always wanted to try and learn new things whenever the opportunity is there, because I can enrich my mind and broaden my knowledge that way. I have joined several seminar on marketing strategies, investment techniques, corruption eradication, and self-branding. I also have involved in several commitees and an organization where I enjoy being socially active with other members.

I have been awarded as the best sponsorship staff in a sport competition event in my faculty called The 13th FEUI CUP for my enthusiasm in meeting the targets and commitment in attending the weekly progress meetings.

An organization I have mentioned before is actually called Photography and Cinematography League, which based in my faculty. I joined this organization because I also have passion in photography and appreciating films. I spent my leisure time in my way home or to my university (which takes me 1.5 hours because they are on a different province) taking pictures of interesting people and moments or watching movies or Korean dramas which really helpful in enhancing my English pronounciation and adding a lot of Korean daily phrases for my knowledge.

I am intending to get my master degree abroad, so studying in Korea for several months will be beneficial for me because I can improve both my interpersonal and intrapersonal skills. Also, there are a lot of courses in Ajou University that are taught in English and match my interest. Therefore, I am determined to be an active and enthusiastic exchange student in Ajou University this fall semester.

fadhilatul, this is a very good character trait driven introduction. It shows how well you may get along with your classmates and teachers during your semester abroad. You have given the reviewer plenty to think about regarding your strong points as a student, a leader, and a person. The problem with this essay that I can see is that you are trying to pass yourself off as a perfect person, which no one can be. There needs to be a sense of conflict in the essay in order to make it seem more interesting. Talk about some of the weak points that you have had to overcome as a person. This could relate perhaps to the close family ties that you have which you hope to overcome by becoming an exchange student and gaining independence abroad. You see, when you write a self introduction, you need to represent the sense of personal journey that this exchange program represents for you. Aside from the academic gains, you need to discuss how you hope to come out of the experience as a better developed person through the cultural interactions you will be having. How will the university experience help you to become a better person? What do you expect to learn during this time both in and out of the classroom? Those are the interesting self introductory topics that could catch a reviewer's eye and make your application more memorable in the final round.

REVISED PAPER

My friends always described me as a person with high curiosity of anything. I always wanted to try and learn new things whenever the opportunity is there. I have joined several seminar on various topics including marketing strategies, investment techniques, corruption eradication, and self-branding. I also have involved in several committees and an organization where I enjoy being socially active with other members that I even got awarded as the best sponsorship staff in a sport competition event called The 13th FEUI CUP for my commitment and enthusiasm. These experiences are really helpful in broadening my knowledge and skills.

I did explore different positions in several committees, but it was a position as Field Officer in an orientation program for freshmen in my faculty that made me realize that I have passion for helping other people. I found joy and had a lot of fun while guiding and leading 17 freshmen throughout the orientation. My passion to be helpful and my interest on several topics on Human Resource Management (HRM) has led me to concentrate on HRM, in hope that I can help more people in my future company enjoy and advance in their careers. Since then, I find it easier to get excellent grades as I learn something that I am passionate for.

I also have passion in photography and Korean language. During my travel with trains from my home to my university and vice versa (which takes me 1.5 hours because both are on a different province), I spent my time taking pictures of unique moments and beautiful places or watching Korean drama as they have a really great storyline. Korean drama have also made me interested in Korean language that I practice Korean common and daily phrases that I learned from the drama with myself. Both of these passion has led me to a dream of going to South Korea, where I can enhance my Korean language skill by interacting with Korean native, and also capture abundant of fascinating sights.

I want to explore HRM practices in developed countries so that I can contribute in improving the welfare of Indonesian employees. Hence, I intend to get my master degree abroad. Studying in Korea for several months will not only give me insights on what it is like to interact and cooperate with students from different countries, but will also make me more independent in adapting to new environment, which are important personal skills needed for studying abroad. Also, there are a lot of courses in xxx University that are taught in English and match my interest, including Cross-cultural Management and Strategic Management. Therefore, I am determined to be an active and enthusiastic exchange student in xxx University this fall semester.
